Oppo reportedly pulls out of key European markets

27 March 2023
The likely reason behind the move is Oppo's legal battles with Nokia.

On the contrary, companies like Motorola had most part of low-end phones made by Compal, DBTel and Acer (later BenQ).

Gucci is a brand struggling for an identity, and has been for quite some time now. The brand is in no way leading the fashion industry and nobody's betting on Gucci to become something far bigger. It's a cheaper version of Burberry, if you will.

S Yu, 16 Apr 2023>Apple has a reputation for being the Gucci in the world... moreDisagreed.
The Galaxy S4 was the closest to being a Samsung original. Even Samsung's older flip phones were mostly made by Arima or Compal, which were also the ODM partners of Motorola, LG, Sanyo, Sharp and Sony Ericsson, hence the similar design. However we can't disagree on Samsung being a trendsetter in the mobile industry, original or not.
Nokia was essentially the only brand that designed and manufactured their own phones, which was taken over by Foxconn eventually.

I don't think Apple feels insulted being considered the "Gucci" of the world of technology. At least, that's what the majority of the world thinks.

Samsung designs all its flagships. Every model Galaxy S or above is a Samsung original.

They saw Samsung's colored glass body was successful, they immediately followed with the...one of the Honor models, back then Honor was still officially part of Huawei. They saw Samsung's curved screen was successful...that one's obvious. They saw the Note series was successful, multiple Mate models at the time shadowed Samsung's design choices. They saw Sony's slo-mo gain some popularity, they immediately follow, oh but faking the speed through frame insertion was pretty original, at least in the mobile realm. And over a decade ago they famously stole a device from Motorola and completely reverse-engineered it, the fake they came up with used Motorola's manual because they copied everything. Even though the evidence was clear the Party's court blocked Motorola's case and got them stuck in legal disputes for years.

atichko, 29 Mar 2023Never say never. The current quality of Oppo (and OnePlus) ... moreI use to like Oneplus but now you can clearly see they downgrade their phones while charging more, Oppo used to put usb 3.1 in their midrange, now they dont, oneplus now even flagship dont have them,

Huawei was different, they use to innovate and put things which no Oem has them, they had faster storage to rival Nvme of iphone even before ufs 4.0, we know about camera they even use Xenon, they had custom soc, reverse wireless charging etc.

Oppo is 2005 company, they have lot of experience if their model of business is innovating we would know already. Most companies nowadays are just business men who order devices from ODM and rename them and sell for profit
