Well, in Germany OnePlus is completely gone. They are not allowed to sell any phone here. The online shop shows not even a category for smartphones anymore when you visit from here. There is a patent issue. So at least not all European countries are still having OnePlus smartphones.
They sell earbuds and stuff though.

blue, 28 Mar 2023Why should they win? They did not pay what they were supposed to.If they win they won't be "supposed to" pay the amount because that's literally the whole point of fighting in court. If they lose then obviously they should.

              Decline or deny?

Even though i dislike oppo and oneplus, I believe that competition and choice are the most important. They should agree a deal for whatever patent nokia is suing them for.
Moreover nokia too should return to making phones themselves without hmd.
Would love to have a E7 successor or a dual slider like the n95.

But hey, that has a cost and not that 'free' money isn't available anymore ... I don't trust them enough, that why I was reluctant to spend 1000+, then the S23U launch with all the offer 😂

Paid finally way less than OnePlus and longer software support, but in a bulkier device. I hope that Sony will keep MicroSD in the future because they are the last one on flagship!

OnePlus are pretty much done in the West. Ever since they ruined Oxygen OS no one I know has bought them. In fact I don’t think I’ve seen anyone using a OnePlus phone for years. Chinese brands don’t really do well outside Asia anyway.

That is a big company. To acquire it they would have to pay more than the current market value which would require massive fund raising. In any case it would be pointless as they are different types of business. Nokia already sold its smartphone brand so they don't even make have a smartphone business anymore (they are only a small shareholder in HMD with a 10% holding so they have no control over HMD at all). Nokia is the third largest telecommunications equipment company in the world though after Huawei and Cisco. The vast majority of their business is wireless and fixed network infrastructure, communications and networks service platforms. It's a totally different business to any BBK company

Anyhow, the Samsung A23 5G only comes in 4GB ram in the UK, and it's priced at £289.99. Compare that to a Realme 9 Pro or Oneplus Ce 2 lite 5g, both with 8GB/6GB varients, that can now be picked up for around £199.99. It's a no brainer. Both on Android 13, and have received regular security updates.

Like I said, Narrowing down options for us consumers is NEVER a good thing. More brands, more competition, more choice, more innovation, better deals = better pricing.

As for iPhone, if I am not mistaken, you can still find as new phone the iPhone 11, which still uses LCD display. Of course, is not as cheap as the A23 5G, but for iPhone standards is the cheapest you can get right now. In Czechia is around 450EUR new. Also, the iPhone SE3, but I wouldn't recommend that model to anyone.
I gave just some small examples, because you were referring to this display issue.

Anyway, Samsung (I am 100% sure), will keep making LCD phones in the future too. Apple not so sure.
I would rather buy a Samsung LCD phone, than a Chinese one. The cheaper models are almost unusable outdoors, do to poor quality of the displays.

This Nokia Oppo is battling is not the Nokia that releases phones (at least not since HMD Global bought the rights to use the Nokia name for their terrible phones). This Nokia is the actual Nokia company that innovates and is the reason why we have LTE equipment laid out everywhere in Europe and parts of the US.

Nokia's phones do not matter in theae events.
