If it's an always online device, dont bother. The new AMD Z1 APU is super powerful and they should be able with little modification (maybe just GDDR6) to make a device that can run all PS4 games in some type of compatibility mode (like PS5 does). And you should technically be able to have PS5 games run with a patch rendering at 1080p. Microsoft is set up better for a handheld due to the XB Series S. Z1 or something similar should be able handle that mode. But for crying out loud dont come with a streaming device, please Sony...

If you're going to absolutely need an internet connection to play games or actually enjoy this gaming console, it isn't going to go over so well. Firstly there's still several of people who haven't an internet connection to really enjoy it. Secondly there's not much of a point of having a portable gaming device that only works with internet, when you can just go home or to another place wher you can actually be comfortable enough to just enjoy your entertainment on the big screen. Come on Sony THINK!

Daemon Targaryen, 06 Apr 2023Sony needs to make a competitor to the Switch and Steam Dec... moreSony can't compete with Switch. The Switch is in it's own world. The best thing for Sony to do would be to produce a PS Vita 2 and make exclusive games for it. That's the only way it can compete with Switch. What they're doing now, is simply worthless.

Incoming flop people, get ready ! LMAO. Why would I pay so much money only to remote play? I can do it using my S21 Ultra for free. Why not make a PS Vita 2 that can also remote play? Now, that would truly be something else. I would buy it for sure.

What the heck is wrong with using a phone and a controller. I'm not going to pay and carry extra bulky thing around just to play PS5 games outside. Just make use of what we already have. You can charge money for the app.

I don't think we should underestimate the PlayStation. just that brand alone will make everyone scramble to hoard it's products. heck im betting cardi b will order 20 of these handheld when its released.

Sony needs to make a competitor to the Switch and Steam Deck. Make a hybrid. The Deck can be docked like the Switch and be played for TVs.

                                        21. Jaguar

Never owned the Atari 2600, 3DO, Wii U, PS5, any Amiga, any NEC, any Neo Geo, or any Xbox after the original one. If I can include smartphones, then my Flip 3 would be #1 since it can emulate Dreamcast, GameCube, and some Wii that my modded Vita can't do. But I do prefer playing retro games on a handheld.

My SN30 Pro does have input lag playing NES and SNES games. A delayed reaction trying to go left or right as Little Mac in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!. How it's displayed on my Vita is also nicer since the lower resolution is closer to the games' OG resolution and the 4:3 aspect ratio if say you have a device like a Miyoo Mini.

For at least 10+ years, my fav was my PSP but not because of gaming. I had it since June 6, 2005 and it was my multimedia player that I traveled with. Was the first to introduce me to Wi-Fi when we were still on Wi-Fi "b" which was slow af to PS3's Wi-Fi "g" or Vita's Wi-Fi "n".

I believe my Vita slim I got since May 13, 2017 is now my favorite. It's everything the PSP was and much more. Battery life is still rock solid. And I got it second-hand like I did for my Switch Lite I barely got last October 3, 2022. I do own a PSP 2K model given to me by my brother before he moved to NY in 2019 but rarely ever use it.

I plan to buy all my gaming gadgets second-hand. I'll scour on OfferUp finding great deals. I don't buy brand new any more with my gaming stuff. I'm no collector. I'm a CHEAPASSGAMER like the website. Once I finish a game, I rarely replay them. So I started buying them used during the PS2 days. I started doing the same for my handhelds by 2017.

I'll wait to get a Steam Deck once it reaches $200 used on OfferUp. I believe it will get that low by this year. I've never spent more than $300 for a gaming device. The most expensive was that PSP phat I got for $250 ($270+ with taxes). Most of my consoles and handhelds, I got them for $200 or less. The most fun is finding handhelds from Goodwill, flea markets, or garage sales.

My second-hand Vita was only $100 I got from Craigslist since I wasn't aware of OfferUp until June 2020. I got a Vita OLED for the same price only to sell it 2 days later. My Switch Lite was for $90, it's mint, and it came with BOTW and carrying case.

My PS4 slim was brand new but I only got it for $200 thanks to a $100 credit deal from a Sprint LG G5 back in 2017. My Atari Jaguar was over $300 but that was a 1993 Christmas gift. I was one of the early adopters for that terrible console but I still love it because I owned it for so long and I love underdogs.

They're just video games. Don't need to spend a fortune on them. I don't plan to buy another home console like a PS5 ever again since I want all my gaming devices portable. Steam Deck won't be beaten until another competitor undercuts them by a lot. Say ASUS releases a $250 handheld with similar specs to the Deck. That will sell like crazy. The sweet spot is closer to $200.

I've only had problems with the two Asus products I've owned: a Zenfone Go and a Windows 8 hybrid. Where do you go if you start having problems with it? I'll stick to Valve because they have an ecosystem called a Steam account. Gabe Newell is like the George R.R. Martin of the gaming industry. I'll support Gabe.

Sony and Sega needs to return to making real handhelds. I've considered buying a Sega Nomad just for the hell of it and I already have all the Genesis games on my smartphones, Vita, and Switch. If Sony won't make a Vita successor, make one for the Xperia Play. The future in gaming are handhelds. Bye to home consoles forever.
