Glance Lockscreen is Adware, but you can disable it... so yeah, it technically doesn't count.

There is no physical difference between the A and S series this year except the Ultra which also doesn't have any physical difference with the previous Ultra. Buying the S series this year looks like a waste. Would rather buy a standout flagship like Oppo or Realme. Samsung S21/22 had better physical design's

kevvv, 16 Apr 2023I won't say that your experience is not true. We have ... moreOh, I'm tech savvy enough. I've been rooting phones and flashing custom ROMs since 2013. And before then, I had "hacked" and modified just about every symbian I had used. From S60 to Symbian Belle FP2.
I had flashed lineage on my RN7 before the battery gave up. I didn't want to flash AOSP ROMs on the Mi 11 Lite 5G, because I actually needed some features present on MIUI, like second space. I flashed custom ROM on it, but it's stock-based Xiaomi.eu because of those special MIUI features that no AOSP ROM would have given me. And, battery life is rarely ever better on AOSP ROMs. I had flashed many to know this. And, guess what, more than 80% of buyers don't know a thing about phone modding. Who should be cartered for more? 80+% or 20-%?
"But a good software with BAD hardware will be just the same with a bad software with good hardware." No one here spoke in favour of bad hardware. If you know who did, reply to the comment so I could see. Neither Galaxy A34 or A54 have bad hardware, however. Here, your tech savvy argument actually works against you, because, with rooting and 3rd party AOSP ROMs, even android 16 would run comfortably on those hardware.
This argument started with the statement "I dislike people who care TOO much about software." Few users here, if any at all, care "too" much about software. Most users that speak for software here simply want optimised software and/or ~3 years of OS + security updates. Neither of those qualify as "TOO" much.
Then, I replied with "I dislike people who care TOO much about hardware." Most users here, especially the gamers, are obsessed with hardware. We see it almost every time in the comment section. But reality is that they represent a very tiny fraction of overall phone users.
So, I'll reiterate: a phone with AVERAGE hardware, but sufficiently optimised software over a phone with ABOVE AVERAGE hardware, but poorly optimised software. The former will carter very well to the phone needs of the majority.

If you ask me tbh I'm not actually a big fan of OneUI nor MIUI, I'm not even a fan of custom UI since first time compared to Stock-like UI, which I like more for it's simplicity. But yeah I'm agree let's stop arguing. 👌

it's best if we just stop arguing, I don't really care if you love OneUI or MIUI. I just think that hardware should be put first, and that Most UIs have ads, regardless of the way they Advertise.

You can say that Xiaomi's software are unoptimized. But my point still stands - you might just unlucky. It's not like everyone is experienced the same problem as you. Much of my irl friend (most of them are usually playing PUBG) are users of Xiaomi, and they never experienced a random unusual stutters on their phone.
Don't get me wrong, but a good software with bad hardware will be just the same with a bad software with good hardware. At least, if you're a tech savvy, if you have a bad software, you can fix it by root it or doing a custom-ROM with it. But if you have a bad hardware, you can't really fix it.

Cyberchum, 16 Apr 2023Ads and ads. There isn't even a single mention of &quo... moreoh my god...
What these Android skins have in common are: The Preinstalled Google Apps, Facebook and Netflix preinstalled, Bloatware, The Glance Lock screen, which is an Ad itself, and In-App Advertising (Examples are: Security, Galaxy Store, MotoHub). This includes: OneUI, MIUI, ColorOS and its Variants, and MyUI.
Hardware also translates to Software Experience, would you rather have, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Device with 1TB, 16GB Ram that runs MIUI, or a 64GB 4GB Ram Exynos 9611 Device that Runs OneUI? Would you rather, have a Poco F4, Because of its good hardware at a reasonable price? a Moto Edge 30, because of its nice hardware at dirt cheap? or an A53, because of its "polished" software?
Stop defending OneUI as if it was made by Jesus Christ himself. I'm just gonna stop replying to you. Call me a Xiaofan or an Oppotard or, god forbid, an iSheep or a Huawei Fanboy all you want, Software isn't as important as hardware, and OneUI, Just like most OSes, has ads.

My experience with Xiaomi and Samsung rubbishes your claim. Back in 2019, I was deliberating whether to get Galaxy A30 or Redmi Note 7. They are priced similarly in my country, but the Redmi, on paper, promised to be better. I bought the RN7 while a friend I recommended the two to bought the GA50 (both phones had the same memory/storage combo). That proved to be a bad move on my side in no time. Being close to my friend and having occasional access to his phone exposed RN7's weaknesses when juxtaposed against the specs-weaker Galaxy A30.
On my next purchase, I decided to go for nothing less than 8GB RAM in hope to avoid hiccups. I don't play games, mind you. I just wanted a hitch-free experience. A mostly smooth ride, with very minimal drag backs.
I was considering getting Redmi Note 10 Pro, but chose Mi 11 Lite 5G instead, particularly because it had a more potent chip, and being that I wasn't into photography, I refused to be swayed by the former's promise of better camera.
Before buying that Mi 11 Lite 5G, a friend was already using Galaxy A51 with 6GB of RAM, that is 2GB less than my shiny new Mi 11 Lite 5G. But… Long story short, the Mi 11 Lite 5G lost out to the older Galaxy A51 in my use cases. The Galaxy A51 was simply more fluid. Never experienced its system UI acting up like my Mi 11 Lite 5G did from time to time.
A phone with average hardware, but sufficiently optimised software over a phone with above average hardware, but poorly optimised software. This shouldn't be up for argument. I'll repeat, user experience reigns supreme!

When you think about it, OneUI, just like most android skins, are all buggy. including iOS.
As long as there aren't any catastrophic bugs, or anti-consumer tactics, you shouldn't pay attention to software as much as hardware. also, Ads are something that'll appear on every android device, not just MIUI.

Cyberchum, 16 Apr 2023I dislike people who care too much about specs, about perfo... moreSoftware is running above hardware tho. The software will not run smoothly if it is not supported with the good maintenance from the developer and the main thing, the supporting hardware. Many people here I know who are tech illiterate are buying midrange from Samsung and Oppo with crappy hardware that runs on "polished" One UI or "polished" ColorOS (compared to "unpolished" MIUI), and I'm not surprised when I hear complaints from those who feel that the device is lagging after 1 year of use, because of the limited hardware. And here many use Xiaomi for a long time. I remember when one of my classmate is complaining when his Oppo A57 is bugging, even though it's running on ColorOS, which you can say more polished that MIUI. Oh yeah, different timeline, my another friend is also complaining when his Samsung A13 is also lagging, especially after update, even though he's already resetting his phone, considering his phone is also running "polished" One UI. In another side, I still have that one friend who still uses his Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro until now. When I asked him how's his experience with MIUI, he says that it's good and fits for his daily need.
But yeah, why talk at length? After all, you will not believe it either. Not all Xiaomi are bad at software, you might just be unlucky. Of the 3 Xiaomi, 2 Samsung, 1 Pixel, and 1 Oppo that I used, none of them experienced bugs that disturbed my experience. Bugs will always exist in any software, even iOS, but it all depends on whether the bug reaches the user level or not.

MIUI,... moreI dislike people who care too much about specs, about performance on paper, about raw power. You ain't gonna ever interact directly with that hardware. Ever! A great software will always trump a great hardware.
What most buyers care about is user experience, not specs. Most buyers don't even know much about the specs of their phone, but they know how well their phones serve them. The spec junkies on these comment sections are very very in the minority.
User experience will always reign supreme, and software factors more in the experience than hardware.
