Jack is dead, 19 Apr 2023Jack is a hoarder of space.
The port next to Jack have m... moreSounds like first world problems.
Its a hassle? Ask your parents how they took their Walkman everywhere (also to the gym) and if they had problems you are describing?
Tell me how to listen to FM radio in case of an emergency, when there is no interent signal for example, to know whats going on? Plug your wired in the Jack, thats how. Until that changes the Jack will always have a very important role.
And wireless are just e-waste currently.
You have to understand that the US is less the 5% of the population. If some people, in the few rich countrys around the world, can afford to throw out electronics every year or two, it doesnt mean the rest can.
Also charging your phone more often just because you use wireless? You got extra money for that electricity bill?

Some phones like the LG V60 has 20.5:9 screen. Even Motorola used 21:9 screen before with the Moto G100. Don't expect the screen to go shorter at all.

Also, it's not as long lasting because of non-removable battery. I already owned five wireless earbuds, and yet my budget 2019 Audio Technica headphone is still going as strong as ever without any problem.

If you really think the jack is dead, why we still don't have wireless DAC audio? Don't think your opinion represents the reality, which obviously doesn't.

AnonD-1078988, 19 Apr 2023Talk about jacks reducing ip ratings or saving space in pho... moreJack is a hoarder of space.
The port next to Jack have more functionality. Can provide power, audio, display, data. While the selfish Jack can only provide audio, not only that.. it requires the phone to make way for a DAC.. while other external DAC is more awesome.
Such a port have NO space on a serious phone. It have to live on life support as a dongle and collect dust.
Now the Jack lovers talk about how Jack removal is the only way to sell more wireless earbuds. That may have some truth to it. But the reason why wireless earbuds becomes popular is not because of the lack of Jack.. But it shows people the uselessness of JACK.
1. The wireless can auto connect to all your devices, and route audio automatically. Unlike Jack.. slow and wired.. need to untangle.. need to unplug. plug in. what a hassle!
2. You can bring your wireless everywhere, while working out.. while doing household chores, no worries of wires trip.. or your bulking fat phone anywhere.
3. The tiny wireless stays in your ear.. you hardly realise it's there!.. Wear it, music anytime!.. unlike JACK who remind he's with you with that irritating wire.

But that doesn't mean i'm gonna buy a cheaper flagship without the 3.5mm jack. No, if i'm forced to, i'll buy the cheapest possible phone WITH the jack. That's if all manufacturers decide to remove it from the mid-rangers too. Until then, i'm buying mid-rangers with the jack. Xiaomi, Realme, I might even consider a Motorola.

Anonymous, 19 Apr 2023Yeah. But some people think a headphone jack will stop them... moreJack belongs to the past. And anything that is the past, have to be removed for the future.
Now the competition between smartphones are razor thin. Every part of the phone space is important. Battery, camera, processor, haptic engine, biometric, I/O. All phone makers are pushing their phones to the limit.
Just like a laptop or NUC that have no inbuild power supply converter, they came with a power brick .. so that the computer is lighter and more portable.. can squeeze more battery, more processing power etc etc.. Legacy port no longer use is removed as well.
