Nick Tegrataker, 18 Apr 2023Xiaomi is definitely looking serious with this cameraphone:... moreA proper 2 stage shutter button would have been chef's kiss.

Nick Tegrataker, 18 Apr 2023Xiaomi is definitely looking serious with this cameraphone:... moreToo bad this 14bit is software based, not hardware.
Just like 16 out of expert raw.
Pretty easy trick, hard to notice difference. Extremely commonly applied to screen (you would be shocked with how many 10bit screens advertised today are not 10)
989/803 = 12bit adc
Hm3/hp2 = 10bit adc

GSMA,just finished reading your Oppo Find X6 Pro review, and it turns out it's great.
Xiaomi was very quick to reply so cannot wait for that review. It seems like we've got two best cameraphones of the year.

Anonymous, 18 Apr 2023Having Type 1.0 with f2.8 widest aperture would be huge was... moreI obviously did not mean f2.8 as the widest. F1.9 at the widest at low light, f2.8 as an intermediate for artificial light and f5.6 as the final stop for broad daylight.
Also there is no correct f stops 🙂

The "short" 75mm equivalent telephoto camera is low-key VERY impressive - Despite having only half the sensor size, the smaller F-stop and the narrower FoV means the sensor ends up receiving 36% more light than Find X6 Pro's 65mm camera per FoV. When you compare it to S23 Ultra's 70mm camera, it's essentially 4 times the amount of light gathering per FoV.
Similarly, the 120mm camera captures 42% more light than S23 Ultra's 230mm camera per FoV.. a great set of camera hardware from Xiaomi right there.

Very good. They exactly matched the Oppo find x6 pro pricing and it is 500rmb cheaper than the Xiaomi 12s ultra for the same storage. Usb3.2. My only minor complaint is the band coverage is much worse than all the other Chinese flagships but you can't have everything I suppose. Should be a cracking phone

Shui8, 18 Apr 2023Oh I thought those 10 steps mechanism eat more space? Many things phones makers do not do when they could it is to save costs. In the end, to them every $5, $10, $15 saved per unit can mean few billions more in their pockets.
Examples:
1) removing jack and card slot. Not only avoiding buying these components but less time and efforts on internal design.
2) macro/depth cameras instead of 50/52/60/70mm. Way cheaper
3) very old glass GG3/GG4/GG5 instead of GG6/GGV/GGV+/GGV2
4) screens from chinese are cheaper than japanese/south korean
5) many devices with same screen size or same external design

Xiaomi is definitely looking serious with this cameraphone:
- The dual aperture (I wish it was variable like the one on P60 Pro) is undoubtedly useful for eliminating the issue of having "too much" bokeh
- Better coating to better handle flares
- All auxiliary cameras being colour-matched to the main camera is a welcome addition
- Having the ability to adjust the saturation/hue/sharpening/contrast etc. before shooting a photo without entering the manual mode is fascinating (I guess Basic mode on Sony's Photo Pro app had it too? I can't remember)
- Cropping from the main/5x telephoto cameras allow for seamless 2x/10x zoom without losing too much details
- Xiaomi FINALLY added the support for multi-frame RAW (at higher 14-bit depth as well!) after Google, Apple and BBK
- All cameras support 8K and 10-bit LOG video recording if that's your thing
- The price is lower than 12S Ultra for the same RAM+ROM capacity combo
Great, now bring it to where I live, please.

90W in 2023? I guess I have to buy midrange phones if I want 200 or 250W charging.. Still Punchhole in 2023 for a 1000$+ flagship. We had underscreen cameras even in 2020..

Wow, great cameras, I like both size/aperture on tele lenses. Significantly bigger/faster than what apple/samsung have on their phones. This will probably be my next phone!

Correct is having f1.2 , f1.6, f2.2, f2.8, f3.4 and f4.0

Volt, 18 Apr 2023I hope it is not significantly more expensive outside of Ch... moreWell obviously if Xiaomi 13 pro is around 1300€ in Europe expect 1500€
Or just go to tradingshenzen and get it cheaper without all the preorder bonuses.
If this was around the 1200€ mark I’d get it instead of an S23 ultra
Actually it’s 1277€ on trading shenzen for the 1tb variant

A very solid effort by Xiaomi.
Hardware-wise there's very little to complain about: subpar selfie cam with only 1080p video, only 24fps@8k video,no ultrasonic fingerprint sensor(debatable, optical might be just fine).
That's about it from my POV.
What they need to fix to play with the big boys is SOFTWARE, especially for global units.
Too cluttery, filled with bloatware, aggressive background killing apps (which can be fixed, but why should I bother with it in the 1st place), unnecessarily complicated at times, not so stable fw updates that garner more bugs than they fix.
Still, kudos, Xiaomi 👏
