Now the brands have increased the price for your YoY growth parameter, but even after increasing prices, they are actually offering downgraded hardware, they are not even offering the same hardware as before.. It's underspecced.. Phone's BOM cost is lower, but prices are higher. You don't seem to get this simple point. They just want to take more money from people's pockets and offer even less in return. That's the whole point of current situation. They want people to buy their pricier offerings, that's it – just to make more money. They don't give a fuck about consumers not even about the planet or society.
And You are telling brands are not greedy... Keep paying 1000 dollars for iPhone. Soon They will charge 5000 dollars for it just few years after according to your YoY non-sense, and top 1% rich individuals will still buy that to show that they are "elite" and others are inferior... Half of the people buy iPhones just to show off when then yearly income is 2000 dollars, even then they will buy a phone that is priced that's equivalent to their Six, whole 6 months income.. I'm talking real shit about this world, "more specifically developing Nations", not countries like USA.
However, I have no doubt, even in USA their would be such kind of people who just get an iPhone just because every other guy is carrying an iPhone in USA almost 50% market share, those person who cannot afford it, but still will buy it, not because they actually needs it, but just participating in becoming a part of the cult or fashion. That's how these companies do business by impacting your Pshyc. This is the reason a Phone selling company is one of the most revenue generating company of the world and most profitable one's too. They have the largest profit margins in the industry, because this company knows how to impact the Pshyc of the masses, how to change it if it is not aligning with them, that's how more people will buy their products. So Don't teach me economics and marketing. I know what game all these companies are playing.
In India, They can get a perfect all-new motorbike at that price for comparison of market leader brand, and these bikes are selling at far less price than latest iPhone Model. So, whose actual cost to make is more, a motorbike or a small pocket device. Just these bikes companies have a lot low profit margin, which is sensible when comparing to iPhones. If you cannot have logic and understanding, keep defending your senseless point.
But talking of Chinese companies, they were already offering all of that. Let's assume, Phone's BOM cost were 15K, they were selling it at 20K.
Now, that they are selling so much downgraded and underspecced phones, to give you an idea, they are now selling Phone's whose BOM Cost is 10-12K at 25-30K. So, their actual making cost for that "Downgraded hardware is less, however they have increased selling price by 50 to 100 percent.
So, this is why their sales is decreasing, the topic of this article, people don't want to buy their pricier crappy offerings.

And if you calculate inflation we should be paying 20-50$ for smartphones, not 1000+, inflation works both ways, not only companys benefit from it. Sadly most people dont understand money and how it works.
As fot shareholders and YOY...its not possible to have infinite growth, at best you should be at zero, basic economics

Do you think the original iPhone cost $1000 like the iPhone X? What about Redmi phones from 5 years ago? Did they have OLED display? You want better features but the price has to remain the same. That isn't how the market works. Stop calling them greedy and read some basic economics.

There is the vast number of people who still rely on total number of cameras, don't care about processors & updates etc. I wish they could understand how much they are paying for overpriced crap.

Anonymous, 19 Apr 2023Costumers that used to buy crapmi note , because phones the... moreDunno what theyre like now but i had the redmi note 5 a.i. Dual camera, was a fantastic phone for its price. Fullhd screen, decent speakers, good cameras for the price. Spent like £180 new (when you spend that money you dont expect it to do well so when it has features you wouldnt think and performs fluidly and not lagging its a very enjoyable device).
I'd take the note series over samsungs F (or equivalent) series now which recieves very little updates too and are worse specc'd (usually more expensive too, dunno what its like in India).
Now the A5x lines vs the notes is a difficult choice.

Xiaomi and Realme deserve this drop due to their arrogance of flash sales and availability issues. Samsung, Vivo and Oppo are primarily offline brands and show that online sales happen only during the festive sales.
Samsung has managed to nose ahead thanks to their wide bouquet of products and benefitted from the anti china sentiments.
Oppo includes the OnePlus sales and the Nord is selling like hotcakes.

Well they are launching phones with 2 year old specs for higher prices, so we are paying just for new software versions. Better to stick with old phones unless they absolutely don't work.

Costumers that used to buy crapmi note , because phones they want (iphones) have very obscene prices, are slowly turning away from crapmi note.
So now instead of buying crapmi note every 12 months , they are getting Samsung F and keeping them 2 years.
Very smart move, not that samsung phones below $1200 are any useful, but it is still upgrade.

India is a big market but even then it is getting saturated, and brands getting complacent with having sub-brands of sub-brands selling the same phone with three different names(If it's not obvious already, I'm talking about BBK here). People also noticing the bad software experience these brands provide, getting late and buggy updates, which sometimes kill the hardware outright, Xiaomi being the worst offender here. Another reason I think is the rising prices, two years ago you could get a decent mid range at about 20k INR and a flagship killer at 30-35k easily. But today, 30k will only get you a decent mid ranger with entry level features like a 2mp depth sensor.

They are "DELIBERATELY" making hardware lacking phones.
Either they are not offering AMOLED in phones that have comparatively better processor.
They are removing 3.5mm headphone jack, removing MicroSD support and they are NOT PROVIDING stereo speakers in budget phones, as they want you buy their premium phones just for basic stereo speakers.
And if they offer all these features, they remove 5G support. Only offer all of these wannabies in their 4G phones because they know you will definitely upgrade to 5G smartphone in 1-2 years when your need grows for 5G as 4G is older and 5G is "NEW", so they will again have revenue. THis is their business model.
THEY DON'T WANT that your phone lasts longer.
They Even started removing the basic and average performing 8mp ULTRAWIDE under 20K phones, what you need as a proof. And replacing that 8mp ultrawide with 2mp crap depth and macro sensors. Only thing you are now left with is only ONE USABLE MAIN SENSOR which that even performs inferior because they used cheap main sensor and their optimisations are bad. SO YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE AT LEAST ONE GOOD CAMERA IN YOUR PHONE NOWADAYS.
All of these were used to be available in this price range, all of the features that I'm talking about were present in same price range 2-3 years ago except 5g, i.e. "UNDER INR 20K price range". Now, you cannot find a decent phone even Under 25K, let aside 20K. So why people will buy their useless SLABphones.
They are using SD 680 4G which is crappiest qualcomm processor in SD 6-Series. They are using SD 695 processor which cannot record 4K and doesnot offer HDR Support. So for these capabilies, again you have to pay more now for their premium phones, when all these features were previously available under 20K price range.. All previous phones supported all these things in lesser prices.
So why people will buy their Costlier phones when they now have lesser features and hands and legs cut down. They are deliberately shifting consumers to move up higher and get their premium phones that costs double for their greed.
I know this is business, but their greed is much more than what they offer.
People only want – "Value for Money Phones" that are no longer available these days, that's why their sales reducing so badly.
TLDR : People don't want to buy and "PAY MORE" for their crappy and under-specced useless phones. Features Less, And Prices More — People are not accepting this.
