K , 26 Apr 2023True, good point!Already 3 years with Fold and have no problems with dimensions. A little bit with weight. But I tried a s23 Ultra and I can't ever sit in my car while it is in my pants pocket. It will cut my pocket or my stomach. The footprint on the Fold is way way more comfortable than every other 6,5+ inches flagship on the market today. You must try and then judge.

I must say the quality has changed a lot from Fold 2. Now, i dont feel the Fold 4 is as delicate as one thinks. After about 8 months with the Fold4, its still working perfectly with not a single scratch on the inner screen. My brother was so envious of my Fold that he switched to the Fold 4 too. Hes been using it since Nov last year and still works perfectly. One of my close buddies is also using the Filp4.
And no i dont wipe my screen with any special cloth. I just wipe it with a water and tissue, just like how i take care of my other slab phone.
We have a very different usage pattern - mine is more for reading, media and productiviity. My brother uses his mostly for gaming and manga reading.
Nothing can match the usability of the Fold, if theres anythjng i wish samsung would improve , it is only the camera. I dont even mind the gap when folded, and the presence of the crease when unfolded doesnt bother me at all. I think only a few Fold users think that the gap is an issue.
I dont think id be switching brands anytime soon, maybe if other foldables are able to put IP rating and pen support. I cant eait for the fold 5 to come, for sure ill be the first in line to swap.

I just want two things from the fold, no gap when closed and a built in pen. I love my fold 4 but those two features would make this a perfect phone for me.

0odle-noodle, 25 Apr 2023this thing is thick as hellThat's the problem with all the Fold and Flip phones and why I ended up ditching it, its even ridiculously thicker when you put a case on it since its essentially doubling up the thickness of the case. They seem portable and convenient in theory but when it actually comes to shoving one in your pocket it becomes a huge hassle. I would only recommend it if you absolutely need a large screen, but do not get it if you think you are getting a more compact experience.

I loved my Fold 3 but the outside screen dimensions made it too difficult to use comfortably. Was hoping Samsung would adopt an outer screen comparable to the Oppo Find N2.

Fold is not complete and does not look worth $2000. Please improve shape and make fold pretty, balanced, complete and crease non visible. Enough said. Shame for Samsung and look at other brands ,much prettier. I HAVE USED FOLD 2..and keep thinking, should I, or should I not.

Same ugly curved sides , make it boxy rectangular like Xiamio Mimix2 or s23ultra sharp edges and 16gb ram and s23ultra camera, if not yet again epic fail for the 5th time.

Flat folding foldables do not actually fold flat. It's a bit of an illusion. The screen sits below the bezels and the phone folds on the bezel where the magnets are. The screens don't touch each other. The Z also has two small horizontal pieces that rests on the bezels at the top and bottom on the right side. This also prevents the screen from touching.
Nobody knows why the screen cracks. Dust could be one reason, but it's probably dust getting behind the screen through the hinge. Regardless, there is always going to be space between the screens. If you have large debris like sand, rocks or cookie crumbs, I think most people would just clean it off before they close phone.

Speaking from experience: I own the Fold 3 for over year now, and the only serious fault I personally can find, is that the inner screen protector is notorious for bubbling up and separating itself from the screen. Solved this by removing it and sticking on another softer one, that reacts way better to constant folds/unfolds. The phone has been to the beach, got wet from usage in the light to medium rain, been with me on countless bicycle rides on and off road, and it still functions flawlessly.

I actually was planning on getting the S23 Ultra to replace my S9+, but after handling it I realised it's just another big flat slab. The Fold may be thick, but the different form factor feels refreshing. Planning to get one within the coming weeks, when news of the 5 push prices down a little.

Just see the shape which this Samsung are closed to realize that you are looking for other alternatives such as Oppo or Huawei with its Mate X3.

Oh well, still not in to the flip/fold thing but it starts to grow on me. Anyway I'll wait for the devices that will democratise the flip/fold thing as there is no hear on my head (and I have little) that thinks about spending amounts above €1000, even above €5-600. So it will take a while and till then it can mature and I can read the usual bashing in the comments :-D

Okay lemme elaborate something about this. When Motorola once launched their Razr they claimed that the gap between the 2 halves when folded is so tiny that not even a piece of paper can slide thru. So that means no chance of keys and coins getting in and scratch the display. With the Galaxy Fold, that can happen. As for sand particles, they can enter any foldable since they're so tiny. The only solution is to keep the display clean, with a microfiber cloth, a few times a day. The display can get scratched up pretty easily but with the right care, that can be avoided

Not saying it's low quality. It's just a design flaw. That's the reason other manufacturers all have gapless design foldables. Also it's not my personal preference or anything. It's obvious that galaxy Folds lack in the area
