26 April 2023
The switch will begin in 2024; panels expected to saturate the market and become cheaper.

Wouldn't microled use pwm as well, if it didn't it would lose clarity/vibrancy when the voltage was lowered, like an oled does , correct?...

rui-pt, 02 May 2023PWM. Screens with no PWM don't give me any problems. I... moreI'm exactly the same as you, so feel your pain (literally).
I find oleds with a higher attainable brightness to be the worst, probably because they flash 0 then 1000 nits brightness in your face and for that split second you nuke your eyeballs, that's probably why the older oleds were better, as the max brightness was lower (or they weren't using samsung panels back then ) .
The new honor magic 4 pro (over 1000hz) is the best I've tried for my eyes, however the xiaomi mi 12t has the same frequency but I couldn't use that one anywhere near as well (Samsung panel again) , so I think there's something more going on than just PWM but I don't think we'll ever find out what, although there was an interesting article about Pwm and eye saccades that could be part of the issue.

Anonymous, 28 Apr 2023Is it because of pwm or vivid colours? Pwm mostly affect p... morePWM. Screens with no PWM don't give me any problems. I deal with a lot of LCD/IPS/TFT screens, daily (laptop/monitor both from work and personal, Xiaomi Pad 5 with LCD, Samsung A32 with LCD, LG TV, Philips TV,...) with no issues.

Just started having problems with Amoleds released in the last 2 years. Older phones with Amoled screens (2 years and above) didn't cause me any problems. Just the recent ones (maybe because everyone is now using samsung screens?).

The worst by far are Samsung devices. With iPhone 13 I saw some improvements (higher PWM). It helped. Brands like Xiaomi or Realme, using DC Dimming and PWM dimming of 1920 Hz or 2160 Hz, made huge improvements for people with PWM sensitive. But at least for me it's still not comfortable to use.

PS: There is nothing in my life that causes me migraines/headaches. All electronic devices you can think about, the sun, artificial lights, looking at the monitor screen 8 hours straight, looking at a mobile screen in the dark for a long period of time, nothing. Just Amoled phones with PWM

No samsung display = no buy.

Is this technology better for the eyes than amoled? Because the flagships with amoled burn my eyes almost instantly. Samsung are the worst

Even with the market saturated, the fruit will still overprice the devices. Typical.

Actually, even if you watch the same movie 10 times every day, It's unlikely that you will get burn-in issues anytime soon. However, you will probably get burn-in issues if you watch a movie and pause and let your screen display a static image for many hours every day.
