Anonymous, 28 Apr 2023People film things with Samsung, iphone, etc too. Whats you... moreYour iphone lacks manual controls meaning the Samsung and Xperia is better when you need to take control over the camera cause let's face it, sometimes the iphone takes ugly pictures. And the Xperia maintains better sharpness throughout it's zoom range . SO yh people uses Xperia.

Anonymous, 28 Apr 2023They are all 12mp cameras. Difference is in size of pixels ... moreAnd also 12 Mp has 1.8 um pixel size maybe improved size, but 48 Mp has 0.8 and quadbayer or tetracell never come with high quality then 12 Mp 1.8 um.I have S20 fe it has 12 Mp 1.8 um and its good on dark and light conditions. I guess they can make 1 inch sensor with 1.8 um pixel size upgraded resolution like 16 Mp 18Mp ,whatever it can be reached.

blue, 28 Apr 2023Don't freak out just because someone does not love Sony. It was a joke chill. Regardless of brand complaining about bezels is dumb. It works the same regardless.

AnonD-546724, 28 Apr 2023I think you missed the point Marques tried to make, entirel... moreI mean, the G7 was a competitive camera at the time, had the best headphone jack in a phone period, sold for a competitive price, and quickly went on flash sale to be a way better value for money than the S9 at the time. You act like there's a huge difference from phone to phone. Yes some are optimized better than others. But the G7 still had an 845under the hood, it still had 6GB of RAM, it still had a bright high resolution display. Despite all these things it offered, and the many categories that it was a champ in (namely video editing - the video encoders on LG phones where optimized better than any other phone of the time.) So yes I stand by the fact that LG died because reviewers failed to review them objectively. There is no winner in the smartphone space. Every user has unique needs. At the time an audiophile, or someone who edits video on their phone a lot, realistically would've seen the G7 as the only option. Later when it went on sale it was a way better value for money than the S9. Yet of course in every single review the Samsung was just better. Not because it had a faster processor, not because Samsung's headphone jack was actually the better one, not because the LG had terrible battery life, not because it didn't have power user features like video out through the USB-C port, but because there was and still is a financial incentive to like Samsung phones. They're a very popular brand, and they're mainstream. The mainstream tends to by a product, then go to YouTube to feel good about their purchase. That's exactly what reviewers have been giving them for years, and it's why reviewers like Mr. Mobile, Marques Brownlee, and mrwhosetheboss got so popular, because they've been telling people what they want to hear. There's a reason the latest Samsung flagship has been the phone of the year for all these people 10 years in a row. It's because that's profitable. It's because the millions of people who where mindlessly sold into 2 year contracts with the latest Samsung flagship phone, while they realistically only need a mid ranger, want to believe that their expensive purchase was worth it. They want to believe that how smoothly a phone can scroll through the app drawer is any measure of real world performance. They want to believe that they made the right choice because Samsung phones let you dismiss the notification in either direction. (looking at you MKBHD) And finally, they want to believe that the brand they like, and have given money to, is truly the best. {In a world where each users needs are unique, there is no absolute best, it's simply not a thing.)

1 series should be completely dropped. It costs so much more than 5 but offers very little more. Also, despite being larger 1 series has worse battery than 5 due to gimmicky, useless 4k screen.
5 series is the best whereas 1 is among the worst. S Ultra has better battery than S, Pro Max as better battery than Pro, but it's opposite in Sony.

Ottonis, 28 Apr 2023Sony's Xperia line leaves me with a mixed bag of feeli... moreIf I may just reply to few thing:

                                1. Xperia did have Type-1 sensor and it was the modded sensor found in their current RX100 camera. I think it was the first application of some camera dedicated sensor packed inside phones such as PRO-I and Sharp Aquos. Sure it didn't utilize the whole pixel area but the size of the pixel was so big that it was able to get more detail in every single condition than the competing quad bayer sensors at the time.

                                2. First ever dedicated Type-1 sensor for mobile phone photography is 989 and it was tested inside Aquos as well before officially announced by Xiaomi few months after. Phones utilize the whole area but it's a quad bayer sensor meant once again from HDR frame stacking first and foremost. Xiaomi did tone down on HDR tone mapping a lot (compared to Samsung) so shots look a lot more natural but the detail is nothing spectacular compared to other sensors already available on the market. Difference is not that noticeable unfortunately.

                                3. Xperia cameras area meant for super bust AF/AE lock shooting and tracking of moving subjects as well as 4K 120p video. Those are two traits that Xperia brags about that it can do while others can't. They've said few times already they will not be chasing Samsung and Apple at scene recognition automation post processing. With the trend of AI that might change but let's wait and see. Rumor has it Xperia 1 V will be the first 1 with enhanced nightime/low-light scene processing.

                                4. When it comes to HDR tone mapping Xperia plays very softly and moderate compared to Huawei, Pixel, Samsung. Unfortunatelly they can't give you an option how much HDR you want without breaking it. Pixel's high and low slider to adjust tone mapping are meh, quite synthetic.

AnonD-546724, 28 Apr 2023I think you missed the point Marques tried to make, entirel... moreMr Cheery picker , why didn't you talk about V series the real flagship ?!
(Radar gestures, Self healing back, G5 Modules, even down the the Wing) these are added bonus meaning if you don't won't to use you can ignore them .

What matters is that LG didn't remove anything in favor of the these (not like others 3.5mm , SDcard slot ,charger.... 😉).
So from G6 to G8 LG was consistent , Main issue was marketing .

Difference is in size of pixels really. 48mp just combines four tiny pixels into average value and helps with frame stacking if you are a fan of HDR atomic puke, orange faces in video, no contrast, noon seems like a dusk and so on.
