    it can do almost the same thing as you suggested. it can download, background play, even it has speed controls too. some devices crashes when you download a video.

        I always wanted to have YT music as my main music stream app, but i still prefer spotify due to the following reasons:
        1) No option to sort songs in the playllisy by artis/title/.. (songs inside a playlist)
        2) Everytime i try to use third party apps to shift my songs from spotify to YT music, it takes them as videos and with many mistakes, I want to have them original songs not videos uploaded by some random user
        3) Whenerver i liked or downloaded a song, i wanna see a mark beside the song anywhere in any playlist that i have liked it or downloaded (best feature in spotify)

          kevvv, 30 Apr 2023Well sure I guess I might try YT Music soon :)Hopefully you have as good an experience as I've had with it. I really can't explain the discrepancy, because I've only ever had good experiences with it. It's why I switched from Spotify in the first place. That and YouTube Music's algorithm isn't allergic to independent artists (I listen to some less popular artists who are also independent - shows up a lot in the algorithm)

          Also, regarding your other comment: While technically this is how it should work, it doesn't always. I wrote and released an original song on YouTube just to get a feel for it (by no means professional - entirely written and produced in my bedroom), and it doesn't show on my YouTube music page. My experiments in Rap from a few years ago do, this song doesn't, and it hasn't since a few days after I released it. Not sure if this is a bug or if it doesn't meet some arbitrary check, but yeah. I just checked and it is showing again. But it wasn't for many months.

YT Music is still based on normal YouTube, both still from the same server. That's why when you cover a song and upload it to YouTube, it will be available on YT Music too. That's why it has more songs choice.

Also, I'm not sure why it won't let you on your Samsung, but background playback has been free for over a year. As far as I know they didn't go back on that.

For the shuffle one, I don't understand but I can totally choose the music I like (ofc with frequent ads) on Spotify on my Samsung (I don't know maybe depends on the vendor I guess?). I never have any lag issue with both app, and for the music reccomendation, I can sure both are equally bad for my taste. One thing that I actually really don't like from YT Music (I forgot to mentioned this on my previous comment) is lack of lyrics sync, which I heard they will bring in future updates.
                  For now I think I will stay with Spotify since I can get Spotify Premium cheaper by setting up a "shared" system with my friend so we can pay for the Family pack together. Glad you're also have a better experience on YouTube Music. At least they're being serious on developing their app this time.

                    I've been using android since 2010. I've NEVER used the YT Music app because if you don't have a premium account , it's pure BS, unlike YT.
                    Just install Termux + ytfzf + ytdl . No adds, background play , download what you want .
                    I understand you need to make money by placing adds into regular videos , but placing adds into music videos is the most idiotic thing ever. Especially classical music. It beats the whole purpose of listening to music . Not only that , but it annoys people so much that they think about buying from the competition out of spite 😂

The latest version of Spotify is kinda really bad. Huge unhelpful tiles with music I don't even like, despite using Spotify for over a year before. Literally LAGGING on a snapdragon 865. Like full-on choppy. Can't play a specific song only previews unless I want to shuffle. I don't know what sort of blessed experience you've got but this is not very good. If I search for a song and try to play it, I can only shuffle it with other songs. If I want to listen to a playlist, my only option is to shuffle. 6 skips per hour. Contrast this to YouTube music which runs rock solid on my phone, has a pretty info dense UI but still looks good and showcases album arts big enough for it to be useful. Unlimited skips. Can play any song you want. If we're talking free version, I don't feel like this is going to be very long argument since Spotify is artificially limited and the UI appears to have been updated to suck. It was much better last I used it. Now it's doo doo.
