Does anyone have any suggestions on what Chinese manufacturers need to do in order to change these results going forward. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Chinese brands - sketchy software support and tons of bloatware.

Interesting that Apple has the majority of share in China and Japan, they also have a very loyal fan base in South Korea where the 14 Pro Max alone captured 10% of the market in some months. What’s interesting is that in all 3 of these markets exists local smartphone manufacturers and yet the citizens choose Apple, says a lot about how these countries are more focused on a higher quality smartphone experience rather than gimmicks. 😌

Lowering Apple's market share to 15-20% at most would be ok. Same with every other company. That means a limited number of phones shall be sold per year.

When iOS14 was released, I was forced to update because many apps I have were requiring iOS13 at least.

Android Phone stuck on android 6 from 2015 can use more apps than iphone stuck with iOS 12 released in 2018.
Which is so ridiculous from apple.

I think exactly opposite, not interested the open ecosystem when i've seen what it is, it's a broken fragmented mess where isn't any rules. That's why see news like this, more and more people have seen what open ecosystem means and it's not good for majority and one by one they switch to iPhone. Almost everyone who want Android phone just buy cheap low-end Android phone because people just don't see the value in high-end Android phones anymore.

No iPhone for me. Samsung is the king now. You get both freedom and long support.

Apple can be on top, but Chinese are still the most when combined.. even in the world.

st0rmtr00per, 28 Apr 2023Huawei is doing great! 😂😂😂It was a good quarter for Huawei alright with 41% growth being the highest growth among the listed brands (Oneplus was higher but that is included in Oppo's figures). Of course they can't compete on a level playing field with so many component suppliers not allowed to supply them but it's quite surprising that they are still managing to hang in there

Interesting to see that "other " increased market share from 13% to 18%. Surely not Motorola or Nokia ? And I would be flabbergasted if it included Sony, their phones are too expensive for most. So what other brands are in the Chinese market ?

Lowering the price means the profit margins will be reduced, thus make it almost impossible to maintain the same devices for 5 years.
