Where I work, amongst the Chinese staff I have only noticed very few without iphones. A few Huawei's but that's about it. Of course in smaller cities and rural areas it's different and that is where the Chinese brands generate most of their sales. Can't see it changing in the short term as Chinese consumers in general are very conscious about brand image. Before the Huawei restrictions, Huawei was nearly as common as Apple but since the Hardware restrictions on Huawei, many of Huawei's ex - flagship consumers have gone back to Apple.

It doesn't matter what a non-nerd uses, Android or iOS, most of them don't even know what updates are. And those that do know about updates, are "scared" of something breaking/changing, so they don't update their phone.

She said she don't really new upgrade to a higher iOS version as long as the old one still works. :P

Their flagships are selling better this year especially the regular Xiaomi 13 has been selling very well I think Redmi hasn't done so well though compared to previous years. The main reason is Oneplus has grown 210% in Q1 2023 whilst all other brands have been fallimg and it has been launching models with cheaper pricing than Redmi for the same or higher specs. This has cut into Redmi's sales. There is more competition for Redmi and it is no longer winning the price war this year. Let's see if they fight back with better value in the future

                            I feel like too many people are buying iphones and the number needs to be way lower. We should not encourage a closed, locked down ecosystem and instead looking towards good alternatives from Xiaomi, Asus, Samsung, Lenovo, Fairphone, Sony.

                                  Huawei is nowhere to be seen. Good work Apple. That was a nice trick to destroy the competition. The stats summarise the shift from Huawei to Apple quite nicely.
