Buddy, phones already have lenses for zoom. They may not all be variable but that doesn't mean they're less capable. I mean your Sony's variable zoom isn't capable of the level of zoom that many other manufacturers are capable of.

LG! Although.... They did something smarter...
In which they perhaps stopped selling phones as a brand.
But since smartphones these days, including (T)I(m's)phone are manufactured using parts from different OEMs, they'll probably end up beating Samsung in the next gen of foldable and rollable tech... Too bad we're not gonna true window in 2023, if only development for these devices where in the same year as they get released instead of the year before. Ohh well

Pushing ideas?
The reason htc went down was because of a sudden lack of marketing and starting to rely on the people to sell their phones in combination with shipping lackluster hardware.
The reason nokia went down and ended up getting bought out by HMD is because of windows phone OS. Which got less support from developers and in turn less traction because, well, Microsoft and being forced by Microsoft to keep using their OS exclusively. If Symbian got more development it could have rivaled with android but hey, no traction.
Motorola same case and the half of that even got canceled after project ara diddnt seem like a viable market strategy although framework is proving them wrong now in the laptop marketspace.
And continuing on the train wreck called moto is their lackluster software support matrix which lenovo is to blame.
You guys need to understand that the reason the market is as it is now is because of 3 corporations doing the same strategy.
Samsung, xiaomi and BBK
Samsung started to win marketshare by flooding the market with phones.
Then came xiaomi with firstly bs hardware and chinesium tech but eventually redeemed themselves yet still flooded the market space when introducing the redmi lineup
Afterwards came BBK that started doing that shit with oppo.
Etc. Etc.
The fact that Sony, one of the og players is still releasing devices with a jack, expandable mem and decent hardware. Although lackluster policies. Is actually a MASSIVE win. I still hope we'll eventually see them fully arise again when they'll start taking their marketing seriously which was the original reason they started to see a dip in their sales. People almost forgot they still made phones because of the apple and samsung marketing juggernauts who spend more on marketing then actual development. And shhhh about foldable tech, tcl were the first who introduced it but never started selling it.

mmj321, 04 May 2023I agree but if you don't respect customer choices you ... more....talking about not respecting customer choices, Apple had been forcing customer to use their lightning port for years, removing headphone jack force you to us use dongle and wireless earpiece, removing charger, and they selling more phone than ever, because now every other manufacturer just follow what they did, most android phone right now are just apple copycat so why not just buy an Iphone, having option was once an advantage of having an android phone,
in term of respecting customer choices, Sony probably have my respect. Sony of course are flaw in many ways , mainly computational photography(of course you can save quick setting of your liking but it kinda contradict to idea of "smart"phone rite?), 2 years update (wtf?), and Japanese are really bad at writing modern software, other than that it perform pretty much like other phone.
I would blame the company strategy rather than the phone itself, slow in stock speed, slow latest chip adaptation, hefty starting price (but they do drop quite fast in ma country). its a great phone, just dint get the mainstream stuff right EVERYTIME

I'm thinking to buy 1 V or maybe will wait on pro 2.. but if the pro 2 will come end of the year maybe just wait for the 1 VI

Even current smartphones with a 1" sensor don't have the camera island on the side of the phone. I'm not surprised why they do that since it's not easy to put a 1" sensor on the side of the phone.

He did the test last year when he had the Xperia 5 Mk4 review unit. I'm curious to see if Xiaomi fixes the 60fps video encoding problem with the 13 Ultra (and the 13 Pro as well).
