But here is a simple thought, if I am investing my hard earned money in a mobile phone that breaks away easily which voids the warranty also then certainly I am in a loss. Its no point in buying a costly fragile phone and then buying more costly accessories to protect them from accidental falls. People might not drop their phones more often, but just one small mistake and its a loss. So if I am getting a well protected phone without doing anything extra then its surely a plus point and for that extra protection I am ready to have some bezel around the screen. Better to safe than sorry.

What I understood is that MS is looking for a way to make (the future) WP and WinRT apps cross OS compatible. If I understand correctly, they want to make it very easy to port apps from one OS to another. But this still means there will be two OSes(WinRT AND WP) and this means two separate stores, meaning you'll have to buy the same app twice. If they unify the OS'es into a single one, then the apps from AT LEAST ONE of the "old" OSes won't work on the "new" OS.

Upcoming VLC player for Windows Platform is the example of this. I know Windows dekstop applications won't able to run on RT and WP. But the apps of RT and WP can easily run on Windows without the emulator. May be I am being optimistic or even wrong, but I think this is the way they are planning for it. Fingers Crossed.

AnonD-41271, 12 Apr 2013Do you know the difference between WP7 and WP8? WP7 was bas... moreCan't be done!
It's very complicated to explain, but you just can't simply recompile the code for an app in WP8 to run in on RT. It's about API's, kernels, stuff. And even if you could do it, the executables won't be compatible with all three OSes(WP8, WinRT, Windows 8). At most you can have a WP8 emulator on Windows 8, but not on WinRT. So the stores will be separated, and you'll have to buy the apps twice(from WP store and WinRT/Win8 store).

AnonD-19294, 12 Apr 2013Why people even think of this Tiles OS,it now looks similar... moreYes but they are not static, they show notification and every icon can be turned into a widget by expanding its size and every widget can be turned into an icon be decreasing a size. So basically there is no need for two things(icon and widget) for one single app. One live tile can perform both.
