If it would be huge success we all would know it for sure, but surface aren't mentioned in any PC or laptop or tablets sales It's always buried somewhere deep in other category. It's the product no-one talks about, i think that says lot about the success

So successful they then went made laptops and desktops under that name. I wonder why they would bother creating an entire brand around it if sales had been poor! In fact they have a reputation as good as ThinkPad’s in the corporate world. The Surface Pro is truly a laptop in tablet chassis.

I'm personally very happy about this, i use Windows PC and this gives me opportunity to test out Logic which isn't available for Windows.

Also it's not you who decide what is PC replacement and which isn't, it's up to everyone usage. Tablet can easily replace PC, years i've been only using iPad as my computer except for the music producing, if i wouldn't do that i would use my iPad 100% times.

The two programs are brought to ipads. I don't think they are being brought from heaven. Which means they are programs for macs. Which means that ipads shall make the same work as macs. Which means that apple thniks ipads can serve as a replacement for desktop devices.

Apple can pretend all it wants but an iPad is not a replacement for a proper computer. iOS is so limited compared to a real desktop OS which is why the Surface Pro has been a massive success for Microsoft. M1 & M2 chips with no way of using their full potential.

I have a Surface 6 Pro and I do like its experience, especially on Windows 11. It definitely seems like you wanted me to say otherwise, though.

The iPa... moreThe point being made is, Apple is being stupid for not putting a desktop-grade OS on a machine that is perfectly capable of running it hardware-wise. Sure, I would be stupid if I got an iPad Pro and *then* complained about the lack of flexibility and proper apps on iPadOS, but that's not what I'm doing - I'm saying that Apple SHOULD change their course of action and iPad Pro SHOULD have MacOS to allow its users to fully exploit its capability.
You also seem to think that iPadOS is limited and "stupid", good, because we're definitely in the same boat right now. There's no reason for iPad Pro to remain as it is right now, not even the slightest.

Unless you've been hiding under a rock, you know what you're getting when you buy an iPad. If you're willing to spend thousands of dollars for an iPad that you know will disappoint you, that's on you.

flaw, 10 May 2023looks like Apple will kill their own product, which is the ... moreMacs will always exist, because the iPad, while pretending to be a standalone device, still needs a mac or PC for basic troubleshooting. Know DFU mode? You need to connect the iPad via cable to a mac or PC. That's how stupid iOS/iPadOS is. it cannot troubleshoot itself.

the problem is: who needs this?
if i need to edit a video or image with some heavy software because this is my profession, then i don't need a tablet. i will do this on my pc at home or in my office, in a silent environment where i can focus on my job with a large color accurate and bright desktop. not on a small tablet with battery and miniature keyboard.

This is exciting for iPads, however the iPad regardless of its pro monitor still acts and feels like a giant phone, it really needs to grow up and gain much more pro features to move it away from the non pro models.
I have literally just sold my 11” M2 iPad Pro after 6 months because it’s just not worth owning yet, an excellent device backed up with excellent hardware and yet bottlenecked by limited and restricting software.
Please Apple make the iPad Pro an actual pro device, at the moment I can do almost everything on my iPhone that I could do on my iPad, with the exception of a few apps that are not available for iPhone just iPads.
