Hemedans, 11 May 2023There are hundreds of phones with less battery life and bet... moreIf people can afford to buy shiny stuff like these, they could also afford to buy power banks and mini solar panels. Hope you don't live in a developed country because my friends from poor nations would be ashamed with your excuses.

The only worth to purchase for Sony this year is their flagships 1 V & 5 V not their midranger that should've cost $300 or less having same old gimped soc sd695.

omzig, 11 May 2023dude, Sony didn't do any magic - the 10 IV's long... more10V comes with 8GB of RAM. Not that it saves it from being a disgrace but still. It would have had 6Gen1 if it soc was released by now for sure

First two sentences in the article and it is already clear what kind of shit Sony throws at you 🤣🤣🤣 Same chipset same Ram stuff, thank you, but no, thank you.

PeterM, 11 May 2023arguably the battery life of the 10 IV was already "ex... moreThere are hundreds of phones with less battery life and better soc, but only one phone which is compact, portable and this kind of battery life.

That battery life is excessive for people who want one day battery life and charge at night, but what about those who go for days or week in places without even Electricity? There are lot of field workers who want a week or more battery life.

Thought this device will finally fulfil all my wishes. No notch or punch hole, audio jack and sd-card slot to replace my broken ipod, excellent battery. But then they put the same processor in like last year. For more than 2 years there isn't any other chipset available with a comparable battery economy but better performance?

For all I wanted that phone, I can also just get the IV because all the weaknesses of that phone that matter for me are still here with the V version. And I can get it for 200 euros less xD

And because I like to have my music on my phone because I don't always have network connection I can't go for the Pixel 7a either.

Very disappointing. 1000 new phones every year but none that fulfils my needs xD

omzig, 11 May 2023dude, Sony didn't do any magic - the 10 IV's long... moreWhy make 120hz and reduce bettery life? Thats the point, if this phone score like any other phone whats the point? For this phone to be relevant among ten of thousands devices out there it need to be unique and standout. And the selling point of this phone is light, compact with good battery life, people dont buy this as gaming phone or camera monster or any heavy tasks.

Also you assume like there is no sub 6 phones out there, plenty of them and none standout in battery life while Sony have been doing this for years, just look at Galaxies s21, s22, s23, iphones, Pixel etc plenty of them with 6 inch display but all of them have similar issue worse battery life compare to their larger siblings, even Good reviewed phones like Zenfone 9 is no where near 10 IV, so having small display alone doesnt guarantee having good battery life you need to choose your components wisely everything matter there.

i have been using Ps vita, psp, i own xz1 Compact etc and Sony battery optimization is top notch, and that promise of over 80% battery health is no joke, my Xz1 still has over 80% since 2017 i didnt change battery and i use it daily.

Also brighter display doesnt necessarily mean bad battery life, current display use way less power compare to 2019 one even though they are brighter.

I had the 10iv and it was my trip-phone whit twinsim,i liked it small and hell of a good battery time but i sold it because it is a slow phone, the screen only 60hz, horrible speaker and bad camera. So if people have 10iv it is no need to upgrade to 10v .!

Sony Xperia 10 III (2021) has 6 GB RAM , Xperia 10 IV (2022) has 6 GB RAM.

Sony should have put 8 GB RAM in Xperia V.

It is also disappointning if this phone really ships with Android 12 and not Android 13, but that might be a typo in GSMArena.

Nice fine but a bit overpriced

Also, before anyone complains, remember it’s better than it’s predecessor while being €50 cheaper. Meanwhile Google went the other directing in terms of price yesterday. Sure, this phone is still not good value or anything, but it‘s Sony. They got some unique features that, especially people here on this website, always seemingly crave for (front stereo speakers, headphone jack, microSD, no notch or punch hole selfie camera, …) Only thing I‘d have done differently is replace the SD 695 with something that can shoot 1080p/60 and 4K/30, but maybe that will come next year.

What the F!!!! Why would they still use that garbage SD695 that can't even record 4k vids & stuck @ 1080p 30fps video playback!!!!

Guess they are pushing only their flagships & not their midrangers.

„It is the world's lightest 5,000 mAh smartphone currently on the market.“

Sony knows what the consumers want. I‘m sick of all the big heavy bricks manufacturers sell today as phones.

I would rather get the pixel 7a. The battery won't last as long, but the rest is much better at about the same price.
