Hemedans, 11 May 2023Which phone has those Soc and same battery life as 10 iv?
... moredude, Sony didn't do any magic - the 10 IV's long battery life is simply because of its small 6" screen.
10 V is 1,5 times brighter, so the battery runtimes would be affected.
but anyhow, Sony charge 492$ for 60HZ, 6Gb RAM, SD695 device in 2023.
if you think that's the deal then go for it, don't blame other people who think Sony is out of their mind, because they could at least make 120Hz and 8Gb an option for this price tag. Sony stole the crown from Nokia X30 on that one)

This is coming from a happy 10 IV owner.
Most of haters here seem to misunderstand Sony's market niche.
Young techno geeks — this smartphone is not for you. This one is for 50-ish people like me, and some smarter younger people who care about comfort and reliability at a moderate price.
Sony's SIM tray is the most comfortable solution in the Android world that I ever used.
Notchless screen is comfortable. LED indicator is comfortable and discreet. Now Mark V has stereo speakers and a brighter screen, great — this means more comfort when occasionally watching a video outdoors etc.
IP68 is reliability. Fantastic battery life is reliability. Performance is reliable — that 695 SoC won't break any records for sure, but it won't throttle in like 15 minutes either.
Hopefully Sony will keep the HARDWARE proximity sensor as well, because...yes, comfort and reliability.
Oh, and my triple driver wired headphones will still work great and provide reliable audio quality that does not degrade when there are a lot of other Bluetooth/Wi-Fi devices around.
Thank you so much Sony for keeping the headphone jack!
And please please with sugar on top make that fingerprint sensor clickable already :)

Hemedans, 11 May 2023Which phone has those Soc and same battery life as 10 iv? ... morearguably the battery life of the 10 IV was already "excessive" (or at the very least, more than reasonable). I'm pretty sure most people would be ok with sacrificing some of that for a better SoC

60hz is very disappointing. I wanted to buy it with if it had 90hz. I will have to pass and deal with situation that there just isnt a small android phone to choose under 500€.

2xA78 soc with 6xA55 will always have better battery life than 4xA78 with 4xA55.
Also dont look at overall Endurance only, thats affected much by standby time, its those Onscreen test which matter more. 10 iv exceed 30 hours in video test, you dont get that score by randomly choose any soc which please you, you need to carefull choose your material from soc to display, optimize it etc.
For comparison in Gsmarena Database only one phone has betfer video score than 10 IV and that phone has 13,200mah battery, even phones with twice the battery size like Dogee s88 pro failed to beat 10 Iv in video playback.
The problem with you guys want all phone in world to look same, if someone innovate and try to provide solution to specific problem in society you will ignore that problem and judge that phone with camera, perfomance etc.

It is a pity, but for some unknown reason it seems we are not going to see phones with Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset until later this year, if at all

Suddenly no one cares about refresh rate but y'all know how to bark when Apple announces base iPhone models with 60hz. 60hz is unacceptable, 449€ or 700€ it doesn't matter. 90hz should be at least basic option today.

If only did they ever realize that the main thing people may not choose their phones is due to the weird aspect ratio selection that makes then very narrow, which results in the need to scale everything onscreen to lower sizes.

Hemedans, 11 May 2023Its not greed but 10 series for a while now focus on batter... moreSony tested 7g1, D8000 and 6g1.
They could also easily had chosen something like D1200/1300.
With screen running at 60Hz (no one knows if hardware is only 60), it would easily still score over 150h here. Some motorola with 165Hz still puts up more than 100h with barely above 4000mAh.
This phone is basically 10iv with 1 different component. That is very absurd from sony.
I doubt that upgrading the other two cameras to 12MP 1/3.4" would cost more than $10/unit.
They had chance to make phone way better than A54 and charge similar price.
Why would anyone buy this over mark 4 that is €100 cheaper? Because 1 camera and having android 15 ?

SixSeis, 11 May 2023Complaining about the 60hz of an entry-level smartphone but... more449€ is entry-level smartphone to you?
There are Android phones that costs less and have 90-144Hz refresh rate.
iPhones run iOS, there no point comparing them to Xperia, most iPhones users won't care.
Anyway, each phones have their pros and cons, a telephoto lens at this price is pretty rare.
To each their own.
