Reminds me of Lenovo's model - a successful system integrator of third party OEMs. It's not a complete waste after all, the trained personnel will find their way into other chip manufacturers' business.

Thing is, Apple actually pulled it off with excellent Bionic and M chips and the rest just did underwhelming camera ISP unit next to already capable ones found in existing chipsets.
