I also do back them up on an external SSD. However, if your photos are 60-80MP in size and 8K Video is 16 times the resolution as FHD, you can still get your 256GB Internal storage just as fast filled, as you could get your Galaxy S3 in 2013. Just like Genshin on it's own takes 40GB of storage.

Just because everyone removes their SD card slot, doesn't mean it make them irrelevant.

Just like because everyone replacing their 13 or 50MP Ultrawide and Telephoto with an 8+2MP camera, doesn't mean larger sensors with higher resolution are getting out of time. Neither does an SD card take up much space. You could also replace that S23U first Telephoto with an SD slot.

As the Main cam has 22MP on 3times leftover, which most of the time shows more detail than the Telephoto anyway.

Thus for majority of people, having stock official ROM un-rooted is the only way to have a useful phone for their daily needs.

Gorilla Glass 5 (which the phone has) is enough, and you can just use a tempered glass screen protector with it. An LTPO AMOLED, while nice, would likely increase the cost substantially. The display on this phone is still a very good 120 HZ HDR 10+/Dolby Vision AMOLED that can automatically dial down to 60 HZ to save battery. Other than that, this is basically a flagship experience at a fraction of the price. A good deal.

Game Legion, 21 May 2023Just get a phone with SD card slot, so simple. 🙂Not as simple as you think. The only phones with a flagship chipset from the last 12 months with an SD card slot is the Xperia 1 V (not even out yet and limited market availability) and that new Sharp phone (available only in Japan). Going to the past 24 months, afaik the only phones are the Xperia 1 IV and the Xperia 5 IV.

Fa14bi, 22 May 2023Alright: SD = Still more private than cloud storage, and al... moreSmart people have learn trough past 2 decades to backup there files as even internet have risks to get some trojan that locks all your data and hold it hostage so you pay up a lot of money to get your files back.

It's to prevent what future may bring you. To just only depend on a microSD card when your phone ends up dead is not good. Also who is talking about cloud storage ? I would not have my private data uploaded to internet where it stay forever and that is same with the cloud. To be honest i would not even hold any private data on my phone as i would have it on a USB stick or external hard drive.

Why do you need to have your 1TB of data in your phone all the time ? Wont it slow down the phone cause it has more data on it ? all the virus scans and security scans probably take few hours just cause you have 1TB of data linked with the phone

Also if you have your data on a usb stick you dont need to copu all of it on your phone. You just take what you need for what ever reason you need it for and then move it back on a stick. There is also a chance that the microSD will get broken and then all of your 1TB plus data is gone forever and you have no backup cause you depend on your microSD card in your phone that you can remove easy.

If your phone doesn't turn on anymore from some sudden internal death like GPU, motherboard, the data you had on your Phone is just lost, there is no saving it. And having 1TB of internal storage doesn't remove that risk.

As well as you can transfer the TB of data from your old to new phone, by simply moving the SD over.

The SD also makes it easier to back up your data again somewhere elsez as many Flagship phones still come with USB 2.0 That takes years.

Or imagine getting an Android OS upgrade and after the restart, you lose access to writing things on your SD, forcing you to factory reset it.

I had that happen to me and the Internal storage of the phone wasn't even detected by my PC. Luckily, I had a 512GB SD and could move everything including the Android data folder over, reset the phone, and having lost almost nothing.

You can also take photos with your actual camera, and already edit or upload them with your phone by simply moving the SD card from your camera in the phone.
