I have read all the complaints about the thermometer...I agree that it is STUPID!
Come on Google....if you want to add something truly useful how about a headphone jack? I will NEVER use any type of hearing device that needs to be RECHARGED!!!! Colossal money waster! Or for those who don't care about a headphone jack how about EXPANDED STORAGE???? I may not use/need it but many do!
For me I would appreciate a NOTOFOCATION LED!!!!!
I never use AOD as it is just a battery hog. So I use a 3rd party app that gives me the visuals I like when a notification comes in. Yes there are numerous hardware sensors that people want/need....NOBODY, and I mean absolutely NOBODY has asked for, or needs, or wants a STUPID thermometer! Google is run by MORONS!

I love Google Pixels, but I'm not sure what I'm doing with a thermometer in my phone... It's not going to stop me from being hyped when said phone comes out, but if it's is for us to put features like this over the years... Meh

Google's market research scores big! Contactless thermometers are a modern shop, kitchen and lab tool. The phone's built in data logging ability expands these functions dramatically. Data logging contactless thermometers cost > $300. The prize goes to the first such phone with high temperature ( K type thermocouple ) range. By the way, this "review" doesn't mention temperature range. Now, dropping 3 mm jack - bad, no radio - bad.

It all boils down to how accurate it really is and how soon the next plandemic hits us, lol.

it would be better if they made it cheaper, but google doesn't want their phones to become more popular than they are now pixel 8 vanilla has roundings sucks i don't want that, pixel 8 pro has a flat screen wow 10 out of 10 but has a set of useless features that you will need overpaying and it sucks I have a thermometer that has a good accuracy class why is it because it can be useful to someone? 😂 a multimeter may also come in handy or a screwdriver but that’s already lol , I may still need an air quality meter google formaldehyde sensor add the price accordingly like a G2 stove -

Careful consideration must be given to calling this a gimmick or the next Pixel may be equipped with a nose picker. The only good thing about that is it may also come with a screen protector built in!

I hope this isn't the beginning of the Swiss knife approach to making, and marketing, a smartphone. Please people, just improve our smartphones and leave off the gadgets.

someone, 19 May 2023What a gimmick! Why on earth would Google make such a thing... moreConsidering Pixel 8 will have the same infrared sensor as Galaxy Watch 5, then no it's not a gimmick. It's accuracy was be top notch within 0.00001 degree error. In fact Watch 5 is known to measure temperature more accurately than mercury but no more than 2 seconds. Just open your mouth, and lay your watch down on your tongue for 2 seconds. Considering Pixel 8 Pro has smaller display, it shouldn't be too hard to shove that into your mouth also.

Can I use it to read the temperature of my pasta?

They should put this gimmick away from the cameras, placing it on the far side of them will still smudge the lenses.

someone, 19 May 2023What a gimmick! Why on earth would Google make such a thing... moreThe chip on the 7 Pro is perfectly fine, and so is the battery life. But yes, a thermometer on a phone is the wrong focus. As is the foldable craze, at least as currently done. Too thick, not enough screen size enlargement, all at the expense of one-hand operation.
