Considering how well Google products work, this will probably show you a body temperature of 35 degrees Celsius.

Sad thing is that people will piss themselves like an excited dog over stuff like this. Google is still going to mine all this new data for God knows what.

What a gimmick! Why on earth would Google make such a thing as a thermometer in a phone? Definitely not gonna buy Pixel 8 Pro! Wish they instead focused on getting a better chip and improving battery life!

They can put a useless gimmicky thermometer that nobody asked for in their f****** new smartphone in the name of innovation but they can't give us our good old 3.5 mm jack because its old inconvenient technology with wires that takes too much space and they want to push us to keep buying their expensive wireless headsets every year to make them more money. In the words of an old wise man (Scotty Kilmer) - These giant corporations only care about new ways of minting more money from customers by fooling them. They are all the same, they don't care about customers, they don't care about the planet, they only care about money.
The real sad part is that we all fall for their BS and just accept whatever they throw at us. It's a strange world we live in today.

Ok i see the idea but why the frik did they place it on the back in an awkward place and looks stupid when used, not to mention you potentially smudge the camera lenses with your facial grease or makeup. Why not use the space for something more usefull

Anonymous, 19 May 2023Cope.Shouldn't you be in math class? Small children are supposed to be learning at this time, not trying (and failing) to upset people on a smartphone forums.

They want Pixel to be a medical device which will measure the temperature and people's sick face.

There may possibly have been a case for a thermometer on your smartphone during the peak of COVID, but why have it now? I certainly have zero use for it; they should've used the space for another camera or something people would actually use.

Anonymous, 19 May 2023Kinda related: Apple removed the simcard tray in US version... moreYou damn right they don't want to do that. It's not an issue of space. If they wanted to make these phones well equipped and easy to repair, they would do it. They just choose not to because of the incentives that exist. That's why you have regulators and regulations to tighten up on that crappy behaviour. It's proven time and time again that the free market doesn't find the best outcome for everyone.
The car market is another example.

Rumor is Tensor G4 which the Pixel 9 series should have use Samsung's 4 nm node. The Tensor G3 the Pixel 8 series will still have the inefficient 5 nm, hence, the 7 Pro's mediocre battery life.
Apple is already using TSMC's 3 nm node. I'm also reading that the Tensor G3 will NOT have the AMD GPU. This infrared thermometer will only improve in future generations.
Best time to get a Pixel Fold which is the one I'm interested in: 2026. This is already Pixel Fold 4 with a TSMC 3 nm chip. If you want the non-fold, then Pixel 11 in late-2025.
You can also pick up the Pixel Fold 3 in 2 years but it will probably still have the Samsung chip. Expect the Samsung node to still be there up to the Pixel 10 / Fold 3 series.
If you wait for the TSMC, prices for a Pixel may go up. This TSMC holds 60% of the SoC market and Samsung is a distant 2nd at 15%.
Some of the best things in life aren't free. If you want better, it's going to cost you. Apple is already hoarding the TSMC chips in a time still with shortages.
You almost have to pray Samsung can finally get it right with their power efficiency. They don't even use their own chips on their current flagships for goodness sakes. They're all Qualcomm / TSMC chips since the Snap 8+ Gen 1.

Anonymous, 19 May 2023Still using Shitynos, so who cares?G3 isn't exynos. Its based on exynos processors, however its not just a rebranded exynos processor like many claim. Also, G3 is based on the upcoming exynos 2300, which leaked specs make it on par with sd8 g2
