samsung already did lossless digital zoom in s20 and s21 series. 64mp could go up to 3x. 50mp can easily handle 2x lossless zoom.they should bring 2x zoom level for all s22 and s23 series.

PhoneFreak45, 20 May 2023What do you mean?The 2X on Axx Series is a crop from the main (50MP) sensor, on S23U it's a bining from the 200 MP sensor, at a 50MP result.
If Axx would be bining the final MP would be 12.5 and not 50MP as on S23 Ultra.

So it'll be a 12MP output but using the 50MP crop from the 200MP resolution. This better be good. With such a gigantic resolution, it should have no problem doing 5x true lossless oversampling zoom. I can't help but think just how crazy it would be to have that 200MP camera sensor with Nokia/Microsoft PureView algorithm.

Of course they lack tele lens, but why not using the high resolution main sensor to do the same thing in S-series? I don't get this company, especially if this year's A series have literally everything S series do with correctly working main lens, lol.

Downscaling tele to have greater middle sharpness and use hi res mode from main cam on parts left and combine the middle resolved detail with tele camera.
It's chimera in photography, unusual or not available in full size cameras, but nothing new in smartphones.
Maybe new in this phone.
Some transition is necessary tho, as there are different bokeh and positions of cameras.
Anyway 12mp from main camera wont be perfect, as if quad bayer, but downscaled 3x in the middle will be very sharp and full of detail. Remeber downscaled shots of 808/1020 phones?
Makes me remember that low res photo from those hi res phones were nothing like 12mp from 200mp on samsung, being unable to resolve a mesh foliage, what a 200mp sensor lol.
Lost technology along with all in focus mode...
