And it doesn't even look like a razr anymore! And looking like the razr is the whole reason majority of people who get the razr choose it over the flip instead in the first place.

That red Moto Razr+ gave me mad nostalgia of the Razr2 V9 flip phone and that was arguably the prettiest phone of its time. So glad that Moto is making it again

It took them this long to even catch up to the others in support and specs in the first place. And now they will use a last gen soc. Definitely not the runner up for last compromises in any stretch

Anonymous, 21 May 2023By selling you a fold phone branded as flip phone they are ... moreIf a flip phone has no compromises, like having the same processor, RAM, storage capacity, camera systems, resolution, aspect ratio, weight, measurements and battery capacity as a regular slab phone, then I'd say that even if the price is £300 higher versus the regular slab phone, I'd get it. The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is closer to that than most flip phones, and it does have a very nice rear screen that looks like it will have proper functionality to it.
The main point of these flip phones isn't just nostalgia (though I agree it's a part of it), but also portability (doesn't cause problems with its height when in your pocket) and the back screen (i.e you can see the time or reply to your messages without having to open your phone). The hinge also means that you can take pictures from different angles much more comfortably. In that sense, if it doesn't compromise, then it's a very nice if niche product. Of course, this phone does still unfortunately compromise, but it comes a lot closer than even the likes of Samsung have.

As a matter of fact they are selling you a potential disaster and a huge compromise for a great price. Flip phones are pure form over substance

Motorola really follows the Edge naming scheme. Took me a while to realize why the upcoming Razr is called Razr 40.

Without water resistance this will be a hard pick over the Flip, but Motorola has a month to sell as much as they can before the flip 5 completely dominates all foldables.

Daemon Targaryen, 20 May 2023I watched Michael Fisher's vivo X Flip review yesterda... moreAgreed honestly. Though I have two differences:
1. I'm honestly disappointed by the Google Pixel Fold. It has inferior cameras to the Google Pixel 7 Pro, and its aspect ratio, resolution and size are just not what I want in a foldable.
2. I'm very excited for the Vivo X Fold2, it looks really nice. The dimensions and curved outer display are chef's kiss. Only problems it has are the cameras being inferior to an already bad set up that the Vivo X Fold and Vivo X Fold+ had, the bad resolution of the displays and the 21:9 aspect ratio of the outer display (I very much prefer 19.5:9).
