A bold ... moreImagine if US had Apples, Pears, Bananas, Kiwifruit, Oranges Blueberries, Strawberries, Cherries and Rambutans etc all competing in the same country, bearing almost similar OS, functionality, price (or even cheaper), tie-ups with telcos, its mostly the big companies that keep the bigger part of the pie.
Nothing new here.

Gree is one of the best Air Conditioner producers out there. They hoped they can sell smartphones along side Air Conditioners since: You can control the AC with your Smartphone.
They thought the can sell smartphones just thanks to name itself
BUT
They spent 0 money on Phone manufacturing. They ONLY rebrenaded phones which already existed on market. They rebranded Oppo, Vivo, Doogee, Meizu and TLC. They didn't even make a single new phone and even if they did it was 99% components of other companies slapped with a back of a phone made from another company.
A lot of smartphone manufacturers do this. BUT They don't go after flagships like GREE did.
