y36 5g is not worth it, its still uses that outdated dimensity 700/6020 lmao
if you want 5g but the same range price as y36 5g just go on with a34 5g or Redmi note 12 pro 5g.
if you still want vivo just move on to v27e, even though its still 4g it provides better camera and faster chips

dont worry about the 4g cause like it will still be here for a decade or more

Y series isnt worth anything other than back design showoff.. or you could've get the infinix zero 5g 2023 if available. they offer the same price as this overpriced low midrange phone.. although you rarely get updates in that but it is still worth it in terms of performance💪💪

Honestly Vivo should know that Phone market has changed and they have fierce competitors… this device is clearly overpriced for an LCD display … you will get other phones at this price point with better features such as Redmi … Vivo should really step up if they want to compete especially in Africa ( Nigeria )

If they are not dense, the back flexes (had that before). Some plastics will degrade and feel disgusting after a few years, especially some that try to imitate leather (had that happen before too, with normal and faux leather backs, but luckily in the era where backs were still removable). The only advantage really of a plastic back nowadays is the lower weight, but heavy phones wouldn’t be an issue if they were not as big and fat. Lastly, a case does not have to be plastic (mine isn’t). Cases can be leather, glass, wood, and other materials

Its even worse than... moresadly, others might still liked this device even if they are poor in terms of features. just because of the design.. the salesperson is the cause of vivo and oppo phones sold well, especially on their overpriced lower midrange model. they would have drastically price drop after re-selling them.

i would be fine if it priced lower as like $205. with 256gb storage this thing would be worth it if you only focus on storage. if you focus on so many features like stereo speaker, decent camera, 4k recording, amoled.. then redmi note 10 pro is the only choice at $205-230 range.

It's just the way we express it that's slightly different. Then again, this is always the case with vivo midrangers, so it's not shocking anymore.

most phones at this bracket either pack a chip that can score 300K or more in Antutu (yes its not the perfect benchmark but it measures the overall capability pretty well). The most common chips in this bracket are G9x/D700 and SD695 series chips, all of which score far higher than the 680. This phone would have been amazing in the 150-170USD bracket, not in the 220+ one. The 5G Y36 would be atlteast 230-250USD IMO which makes it hilariously close in price to a discounted X4 GT with a Dimensity 8100 lol. This phone is just plain bad and the 680 has no place in a phone above 180USD when its this underspecced. As I said for any reader here, a brand new Redmi Note 10 Pro is faaaaar better value than this pile of poo and you can find it easily at around 220-230USD. This phone even has worse performance than the G96 equipped Narzo 50 (140USD) lol while having almost the same battery, cameras, screen etc.

                            The A50 has
                            - a much larger, bezelless display (take a look at the size comparison to see just how big the difference is)
                            - stronger processor
                            - 3 cameras instead of 1
                            - 33% larger battery
                            - more storage
                            - an under display Fingerprint Reader

                            But it removed
                            - the glass back
                            - the aluminum frame
                            - the water resistance

They had to add larger bezelless displays and more cameras. So maybe now that they got there, we will see mid range phones that will have both a glass back and an ultrawide camera, for example.

Back in 2017, mid range smartphones were at a point where they could have both a good camera and more expensive build materials (aluminum unibody in this case because wireless charging was not as widespread). The Galaxy A5 in 2017 managed to have a lot of flagship features including a glass and metal design and water resistance. But as I said, they were pressured to add larger displays with thinner bezels and more cameras as well as much larger batteries (the „normal“ battery size quickly went from 3000 mAh to 5000 mAh, probably to feed these much larger displays) so they had to cut back on the more premium features.

I could have probably said this in less words but didn’t want to go back and change it up.

rizki1, 27 May 2023lol I appreciate your long explanation why the SD680 is bad... moreRedmi Note 11 (or even 12 with slightly overclocked SD685) is okay. Not great, not even 'good', but has better price/perf than other big brands on this price range. What makes it bad is that they released RN11 with a 4GB RAM as base variant. SD680 can unleash its full potential on a 6GB system, but not four.

69GigawattCharging, 27 May 2023lol 220USD for THIS??? Dead on arrival. Its even worse than... moreA bit incorrect; the move to 6nm is what helps this chip stay relevant and be faster than most Helio G70- and 80- series (G70 all the way to G88), found in competitors. Plus the support for UFS 2.2 make phones with this chip load things quicker than eMMC-equipped rivals. But this SoC on a $225 phone is unacceptable. This price should've been the 5G variant, and even that is a stretch, since Dimensity 6020 is just a rebadge of D700.

Then again, a phone isn't just made of processing chips. So even if this phone is objectively low in price/performance ratio, it will shine on the right market. But imo this should've been priced at least $35 less. Remember this comes as 8GB/256GB variant.

The F5's plastic back feels better to touch and more sturdy than the plastic back on my Samsung A33. Anyways, Vivo using glass back but cut cost by removing ultrawide cam so its really a case of win some and lose some.
