Xiaomi India extends warranty to two years on some of its older models

27 May 2023
The warranty seems to just cover selfie camera and motherboard issues, though.

In Vietnam, regular Xiaomi smartphones will receive 18 months warranty, mid-range and higher will get 24 months though. So it's kinda normal in Vietnam and i pretty sure no one brand can compete with Xiaomi in term of warranty. That's why Xiaomi sell well here.

FYI These 5 phones are of the most popular phones from Xiaomi even in the world. It's a good move from Xiaomi because they added it from low end to flagship.

Hanif Fikri, 28 May 2023Samsung explodes more than once ;)Is it an excuse to justify poor QC from chinese phones built in India?

By the way, all cases of one plus nord exolosions were India too.
        Coincidence?

If Xiaomi was so confident in their build then they would've given the warranty while launching these phone's,not after 1-2 years lf their launch.
Also this warranty extension is only for 5 devices, not for their entire lineup which further strengthen the point.

Xiaomi also offered an extended warranty in China for all the Xiaomi 11 series as they recognised there was a problem with the design which caused the motherboard and wifi to 'burn out' in some devices

In Europe it's mandatory for everything to have 2 years warranty as minimum.

Also software updates are not always safe on the high premium brand phones also. Was it even a month ago when Apple had update and it cause battery drain for some users ?

So you cant have a phone on auto update or update as soon as you see update and need to look up issues on updates first and then risk it on your own. As Android by google dont give any warranty for there software update that can cause problems on some phones but that phone warranty from a brand should cover the warranty if there is a software issue that makes the phone go mad.

Google needs to step up on this and update all android where the hardware support is on these new android versions. It should not be a phone brand case to give updates when they have only there own skin over the base android.
It's like with windows you get updates for 10 years or something as they sell the operation system and update it all the time. Android is just making update and have a new number like it's totally new operation system while it's basically only a pack of new features and support for newer hardware. Like driver update on hardware basically.

Unpopular opinion: Phones aren't innovating as much anymore and use the same design or even the same processor in their next model, but the software updates are still at 1 or 2, not 4 or 5 years.

Extending the warranty to 2 year, but long after these device were discontinued. The phones are well beyond that 2 years age already

Well played Xiaomi. But its too late. Sales are falling just like consumer trust. All those dead CPUs 💀

Should extend quality control to prevent explosions.
More common than units made in China.

Still good for the owners of these phones.
