Mills, 05 Jun 2023Please move to TSMC foundry or your chips will remain to be... moreJesus still perpetuating this lie that foundry solves all the problems. Tensor is a custom chip, just like Exynos. Fab node plays a small role, but won't do magic if chip has fundamental design problems or shortcomings. Just like people saying "but but SD 8 Gen 1+ was so much better than SD 8 Gen 1, it must be because of TSMC". No, it was better because it's a different, redesigned chip.
Using TSMC instead of Samsung's latest node would maybe make a 1-2% performance difference and maybe 5% battery difference. Basically margin of error in performance and slightly more visible on battery side. There were design shortcomings, nothing else.

Anonymous, 05 Jun 2023The Immortalis G715 is NOT the latest GPU from Arm. That wi... moreAGREED!!!
Exactly
Why
Strange combination
But I see that Google want to promote the hardware ray tracing
And with this tensor, the Immortalis series will have *THE BEST GPU DRIVER* in android
meaning, mediatek fans will rejoice

The Immortalis G715 is NOT the latest GPU from Arm. That will be the Immortalis G720. Considering that they are going with the Cortex X3, puzzled why they didn't go for A720 and G520 for the middle and little cores.

Weak af scores compared to the 8gen2, can't even imagine the leap it's gonna get with the 8gen3, Google why 🤦

Why no Cortex X4? All the new chips are going to use the X4 only.

Anonymous, 05 Jun 2023Perhaps no one want to build in Samsung Fab,
The Samsung f... more8 Gen 1 was considered mid because of heating issue and throttling. So was the 888.
That's when Qualcomm knew this wasn't gonna slide so they kicked (possibly) Samsung to the curb and invited TSMC.

Mills, 05 Jun 2023Please move to TSMC foundry or your chips will remain to be... moreJust the prototype alone is pushing 3000 on GB5 (Multi) whereas chips like 888 and A14 are beating you.

(The link says 875 but it does lead to an 888 chip, trust me)

finally it can reach 1 million antutu it seems, when competitors will get more than 1.4 million with 8 Gen 3 and D9300.
battery efficiency and throttle management will still be bad.

Strange combination.

Please move to TSMC foundry or your chips will remain to be generations behind. It doesn't matter if its lifted by AI, the chip will be behind compared to its adversaries, A17, 8 Gen 3, E2400 and some MediaTek chip.
Everyone uses TSMC foundry and you should too, Google.

I think Google should improve energy efficiency more than trying to catch up with Qualcomm in terms of performance, most people who buy Pixel smartphones are not into gaming, even level of performance similar to SD 870 will be enough for most users for years, especially with lightweight Google UI.
