I loved my 6 Pro but there's no doubt that the Samsung-fabbed gen 1 Tensor had something to do with the lackluster battery life so now I'm using an S23 Ultra which comes close but isn't as good as my 6 Pro

2022 Tensor G2 vs MTK D1000, MTK D1300, QSD 778, QSD 870
2023 Tensor G3 vs MTK D8000, MTK D8200, QSD 782G, QC 7g2+
Or compare them to ex-flagship chipsets, pretty okay as well:
2021 Tensor G1 vs Exynos 1080, MTK D1300, QSD 865+
2022 Tensor G2 vs Exynos 2100, MTK D8000, QSD 888
2023 Tensor G3 vs Exynos 2200, MTK D9000, QC 8g1+
The low/base Pixel models are somewhat competitive in price to performance, when you take into context of the above chipsets listed.

More like getting EFFICIENCY that is 4 generations behind, that's where every chipset that produces by Samsung lacks off. Trust me, you won't notice any different if you play 99% games that is available on Play Store on Snapdragon 870 (or let's say, Tensor G2) compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

tensor is the reason i didnt go for pixel 7,heating issues and bad modem(i heard the heating issues were fixed later but modem still isn't good),i decided to save money and grab np1 (i know it's hated here) i rarely game though for photos i would have preferred pixel for sure but again chipset made me decide against it and even if they decide to get one year older chipset for cheaper and pro would have better processor it would have been better but probably google wanted custom tensor chipset from samsung of all companies

They thought integrated solutions would be better, but Qualcomm refused to make major DSP and ISP modifications for Google given that Pixel's sales numbers are not that significant outside NA.
So they teamed up with Samsung. Samsung abandoned Exynos (at least for a while) but still wanted the dev team to be active. Of course Google payed the bills for modifications.
Here we go, we have Exynos's half brother Tensor.

I can't see 9 cores doing well for battery life. If others use 8 with better performance and efficiency then I think 9 is being used for performance comparisons with them. Unless the 4nm and chip design is leagues better than the G2 I can't see good battery efficiency on this unless Google radically reengineer the software to complement hardware like Apple do.

If it doesn't overheat I think it will be decent. I'm not saying it's good, but chips are already fast enough for most tasks. Unless you are a power user/gamer/want to keep it for a loooong time, I don't think you should worry about performance. However I do understand how people would be upset about paying a premium price and getting performance that is 2 generations behind

Why Google don't move over to Qualcomm is a mystery.

The chip overheats and makes the battery reach 45⁰ way too quickly (in rocket league sideswipe, brawl stars (really surprised me tbh), call of duty or when watching lives on twitch) and sometimes even more (48-49) in dead by daylight and diablo immortal.
