Nokia need to lower the price of their lumia range as they are are not pulling in enough people and the price tags are way above other manufacturers units that are of similar to higher spec. If they lowered the price they might hook a few more users.

AnonD-70078, 18 Apr 2013Unfortunately this is life. However the more growth it has ... moreNo, this is not life, it is due to appalling management on the part of Flop! Those employees would probably still have their jobs, if he was willing to play with the rest of the market, rather than back products with minimal market share just so he can be different.

I wonder if Elop would be as happy and optimistic if Nokia cuts 20% of his pay.

Anonymous, 18 Apr 2013it doesn't matter how they were sacked, Nokia's or Motorola... moreI never said BB were doing well. What I am saying is that you can now get BB software on other hardware platforms. They are willing to learn and try and adapt, albeit rather late. I accept this situation is different, as it is the other way around but the principle of being adaptable is the point here. Other companies are willing, Nokia is not hence why they are in trouble.

Nokia just refuse to join the party, so they can be unique, as Flop has quite clearly stated. If you are a fan of choice why should Nokia not make devices running other software and give us a choice? Nokia's problems are totally self-inflicted and avoidable.

Steady moving wd OS is the best for Nokia in long term.
Now, Wdph OS is becoming more stable and quickly progressing over, in comparison with the history of Android & iOS initial stage.

Well, thinking about it. I agree that if Nokia changes to andriod, it will definitely change the the smartphone industry by alot. Marketshare will definitely favour Nok if they start using the andriod interface. I believe many of us have fond memories using a NOK phone and hence will definitely consider it whenever buying the phone. However, if Nok decides to do so, this will mean Google's andriod will become a monopoly os in terms of market share, a market share which even exceed ios by a huge margin.

Instead of looking towards andriod, I rather nokia take a long look at other options. One of these options will have to be ubuntu. Currently, i believe that ubuntu has the ability to compete against other leading os like apple and andriod. Their interface is more or less ready for the market. If ever windows fail to deliever or if NOK wants a secondary os, ubuntu should be the os to go to.

For all who wants Nokia to fail...

Nokia cant FAIL as long as Android sells well...
For every android manufactured avg $5 has to be paid by the manufacturer to Microsoft

So, M$ can pump $$$$$ to Nokia as long as they want.

FYI WP is just a 2 year old baby.
To analyze the life or death of WP platform we have to wait atleast until 2015.

Nokia 41MP Lumia is hard to fail
also Nokia has got a lot of innovations than other OEM.
              Think Flexible display handsets
              Tablets
              Watch and more
i love to see Nokia Aeon Concepts soon

Invest in a new platform that changes every year and cannot be upgraded." - sir, if you are referring to WP7, i sure hope you understand that the reason why WP7 cannot be upgraded to WP8 is merely because of kernel issue. now if MS upgraded their platform to say WP8.1 or WP9, WP8 is legible to upgrade. why? because they have the same kernel.

AnonD-137248, 18 Apr 2013I can't believe I am provoked to write it: - For Android f... moreI heard of that guy and that article talks from another perspective, it looks like an overnight dream. The actual facts were a little different, I happen not to be a 10 year old who thinks cr@pple and samdung invented smartphones, but I actually lived that period and in 2007 apple showed its phone and it was ... cr@p, still is. Now, Nokia had touchscreen phones way earlier-7710 in 2004 and here's what GSMA said back then
"I am still telling to myself that maybe I am a fud who just does not see that the future is in the touchscreen display and pen input.", Nokia were just too early, people weren't ready. The only thing that apple did right was choosing when to sell their overpriced piece of ...p, I had an N95 and it was miles ahead the competition, but it didn't have one thing - the hype. Everybody wanted a screen on which they could leave their greasy fingers, no matter the phone's capabilities(please do check first iphone's specs and see it was d@m.b even for that year's standards). From that point Nokia was just stubborn in releasing a touchscreen phone for a verry long period and everybody was looking for that, not to mention they lost another hyped race - the hardware one. Even if symbian was a well optimised OS, look at all the geeks choosing their phones only by how many cores it has. All this things happened way before Elop stepped in, I'm not trying to say that he's a saint, he did more harm than good but...let's hope Nokia will be here for many years...

I dont bet on nokia, but they are doing it wrong. Invest in a new platform that changes every year and cannot be upgraded. With the same money of a Lumia I can get and android with all the apps I 've already bought, use bluetooth freely to send files etc... WP Is only pretty and well design but without real vantages it doesnt feel like changing to it.
