The problem is not the soc of the iPhone X, but the RAM. Let me explain.
iPhone X is from the same generation as 8 and 8 Plus. The base 8 has only 2GB RAM.
It's not logical to stop supporting iPhone 8 but continue 8 Plus and X, because they're from same generation. 2GB RAM is simply not enough even for iOS in 2023.
The times of 7 years support like 6s are long gone - from now on every iPhone will get max 5 years support. Next for dropping next year are XR and XS.

My only guess is that the A11 Bionic's 3-core GPU is too old for today's memory-demanding apps. The XR and SE (2020) are on the list despite only having the same 3GB RAM as the 8, 8 Plus, and X. It makes me curious how long the A12, A13, and A14 Bionic will be officially supported since they all have 4-core GPUs, and no less than 13 iPhones have it.

This phone is too old, in my place it is very rare for this phone to have never been refurbished or a part replaced. The same as the iPhone 11 series.
what you get is no face id, no true tone, locked carrier, wifi only etc.

A little disappointing, and considering how light iOS 17 appears on new features (at least at first glance) I can see why some would be annoyed sure.
However I have just watched ZolloTech's new video on his initial iOS 17 hands on, and indeed there is more to it than Apple showed off yesterday, nothing earth shattering granted, but still. Maybe there would just be too much of a performance penalty to run it on the older hardware, or maybe too many of the new features would need to be limited or disabled to justify running it at all.
In the end, Apple could give an iPhone 10 years of updates and still get accused of planned obsolescence by the commenters on this site. The 8 series and X did get 6 years of support, that ain't bad.

Euro, 06 Jun 2023iPhone 11 series are next on the chopping board next year. You mean the XS and XR, right? Those came before the 11 series.
The 11 series won't be unsupported until 2025.

Outrageous err I mean courageous (I use iPhone btw but some decisions just annoy me, but Android and their manufacturers do bad stuff as well in instances so don’t tell me to switch, I‘ll never go back to Android)
