Either way, I would still say nobody has tried to implement a close-up capability before Huawei democratised it.

Citation needed. Also, QB sensors perform better at higher ISO settings than Bayer counterparts of the same resolution and the same sensor size, and that's important for those phone manufacturers given the recent push in low light camera performance.

    Anonymous, 13 Jun 2023Imagine defending brands just because they are chinese but... moreMate, I pointed out how Find X6 Pro wastes its 50MP mode by simply upscaling an image from a binned 12.5MP output, how sometimes Xiaomi's HDR flattens out highlights and midtones too much, or how P60 Pro's low light shots look smudgier than it should be, all before you would even notice it (because again, you would never look into the actual photo samples). I don't take sides or favour particular brands based on which countries they reside in, but you're just projecting yourself onto me because that's what you do with Sony all the time.

    GSMArena wrote it, and you actually believed it without having a second thought because you're not interested in looking at the actual photo samples using your own eyes. Oppo's post-processing simply excels at removing noise *while preserving details*, and the reviewer mistook it as having "waxy" details because it was so noise-free. I know you have 10-year-old compact cameras that produce noisy photos with awful lens quality. Again, your problem, not mine.

          All brands knew what quadbayer was. Huawei was only one interested.
          Sony semicon offers stuff to clients hoping someone is going to purchase, but funny when chinese brands make marketing like they help to create these techs.

          Quadbayer is cheaper than bayer of same resolution. Only reason it is used.
          Brands want to spend less money while making more.
          Sony Semicon, Sammy Semicon and Omnivision win, so do OEMs.
          Clients lose.

                    Anonymous, 12 Jun 2023Looks at samples of p60 pro, not better than other with sim... moreP20/Mate20/P30 was arguably relying more on their hardware prowess to go ahead of the competition, but nowadays Huawei's lead in general image quality (especially when it comes to detail rendition during the day) is largely thanks to good post-processing.

                    From what I could tell from the photo samples and reviews, the only phone I think performs almost just as consistently well as P60 Pro is Find X6 Pro, but even then the latter falls behind in a few areas, mainly where the usability as a camera is concerned - Capture before a shutter press, aperture control, motion blur suppression, skin tone adjustment etc. With that said, IMO Huawei's older processing was more natural and "nuanced" in low light, so not everything about P60 Pro is sunshine and roses.
