Samsung themselves never used GN2 sensor, actually it is more capable than S21 Ultra main sensor and even better in some ways than S23 Ultra main sensor, especially sensor and pixel size, besides MP count.

Anton-, 12 Jun 2023I hope they have an ultra pixel up their sleeve with a 6.9 ... moreI agree google should have model above pixel pro, something like $1200-1400 range.

8g2 is said to cost $160.
Gossips say tensynos is super cheaper, $50 or bit less.
That would be $100/device google saves.
Google can easily saves over $450 million doing this per year.
No way they come back to snapdragon.

Anton-, 12 Jun 2023I hope they have an ultra pixel up their sleeve with a 6.9 ... moreUltra model is rumored to be with Pixel 9 line and G4 fabricated by TSMC.

Hard to disagree with your points. Although, sometimes I don't mind sharpening because Pixels can resolve an impressive amount of detail and that is good for small text, license plates, etc. especially with a custom GCAM.

Besides that though, Pixels issues are horrible haze in bright sunny days. Noise and grainy look in the shadows. Sometimes Pixel's photos look like they're picking up radiation in the air that is invisible to humans.

Horrible handling of vegetation and nature, especially in a bright day. The moment a challenging scene hits this camera, like a mountain with trees and the sun behind it, the algorithm just falls apart. Most of the time it's ok, but when it goes back, it really goes bad.

At night Pixels ruin artificial lights. They (and in fact all modern HDR cameras) can never capture the soft fall off of lights. Neon and other lights always look "blocky" because these cameras small multiple exposed images together rather than giving you an option of capturing a longer exposure for a smoother light.

They are very weather sensitive and do best in grey, overcast weather.

Still, even with all that, I still consider Pixels to be the best cameras for photos. They beat iPhones and Galaxy phones too, with their pointless 200MP cameras (has no one informed Samsung it's about sensor size now?).

GN2 is a very nice sensor, that will help. Nonsense regarding the ultrawide sensor for the regular 8 though. They should have upgraded it, just like the 8 Pro. Not a fan of segregation of features, especially as important as camera... on a camera centric phone.

Anonymous, 12 Jun 2023Compared to these two, not to other. Being lessmoffensive ... moreI have 13 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro, also had S21 Ultra and OnePlus 8 Pro. I really dislike how iPhone pictures look, they look extremely fake and overprocessed, like run through AI enhancer, especially noticeable when zooming in and inspecting. Out of all four phones, P7 Pro and OnePlus 8 Pro look the most natural and least overprocessed.

Look how 7a does better thann 7 pro despite the fact 787 is much smaller than gn1.
Even 890 would be upgrade over GN1.

Among expensive phones, only honor, samsung and google still use isocell as main camera. Motorola edge series except ultra all use omnivision.

I hope they have an ultra pixel up their sleeve with a 6.9 panel and snapdragon gen 3 and a one-inch sensor from Sony 🤡🤡🤡🤣🤣🤣

If you increase contrast, you have already messed up with WB.
When you increase contrast, texture is easier to spot, giving you impression of more better texture. Nasty trick done since pixel 1.

If you have lightroom on your phone, play with contrast slider and see.

actually., 12 Jun 2023Pixel 7 Pro output is most neutral, natural compared to act... moreHuge upgrade to Ultra-wide, will be one of the bigger secondary sensors on the market, basically a flagship sensor for Ultra-wide. Only a few phones use larger than 1/2" sensor for secondary camera, mostly only BBK group.

GN2 is a nice upgrade even though it is not so popular sensor, but it is very capable sensor.

Only disappointed with the same GM5 sensor for Periscope, it was a downgrade for P7 Pro going from P6 Pro.

mesand, 12 Jun 2023If just the smaller model would have the same camera setup ... moreBecause Pro and Pro Max are just different sizes.
What pixel does is like if Apple had just Iphone 14 and 14 Pro Max instead of 4 devices.

Apple does it at expense of battery, you see only pro max have huge autonomy.
Pro does not. And it should have 4000-4200mAh.
