It has same specs of GN5, but some advantages.
HP serirs is flagship sensor lineup now.
HP2 is most advanced isocell so far , still samsung electronics wastes it.
GN2 is just the largest. Gn3/gn5 pack more tech. So do hp1/hp2.

From the looks of it it looks like the camera housing is very complicated, but it would definitely look way better in the real phone.
Also hopefully they can improve on Tensor G3.

Could have got rid of that thermometer and improved the front-facing camera. Not sure what Google is thinking. The scamdemic is more or less over, we don't need to use our phones to check if someone is having a fever.

IMX878 / IMX858 / IMX787 would have been a perfect setup, at least when it comes to quality, consistency. Why I say perfect, it is perfect in terms of what is possible at this point mainly when talking about Pixel camera bar design, it is simply at absolute limit already when talking about available space in that camera bar, you simply cannot put any larger sensors in that lateral row space. Pixel 9 will need to change camera bar design if they want to use 1-inch, and also larger secondary sensors.
With that said, P8 Pro setup still looks very good, expect for GM5 for Periscope, it is a cheap sensor, IMX858 would have been perfect while staying at around same size. Also 8X8 new TOF will be a huge bonus and improvement for autofocus and bokah.

Looks like only Honor Magic5 Pro is using it so far, so maybe it's a new sensor and Pixel 8 was already far in the planning stage by the time it was out.
Why do you prefer Sony sensors? Samsung's GN sensors seem to be quite good.
IMX878 / IMX858 / IMX787 would have been a cool setup though.

I was thinking of the s23 ultra but that slow charge from Samsung disgusts me..... and I'm a very demanding user, games, work, editing, emulation, etc etc, I dream of charging the phone up to 5 times in a day due to the use that I usually give it and the mediocre charge of this phone has frustrated me

Wish Google went with Sony sensors instead, like they did with 7a. Using similar to GN2, but Sony 50MP IMX878 which is same size 1/1.12" and 50MP IMX858 for Periscope which is similar size to GM5 1/2.55" at 1/2.51", with IMX787 for Ultra-Wide. This would have been an absolute banger of a setup.

Samsung will probably readjust and release their version of 1"-type sensor. If they can make it 48MP, Bayer-sensor (not quad), they will have a winner.

David 040882, 12 Jun 2023Too much sharpening? Check out Samsung i still think the Pixel has that oversharepened HDR look... and in samsung you can turn off that feature easily (AI optimisation) to reduce oversharpening.
