The only reason this shouldn't happen is YouTube: It's such a useful resource with a huge back catalog of videos. It's basically an archive of humanities biggest hits and busts and only few other company could deal with the scale and cost of maintaining it but are they willing? YouTube just recently broke even and while Google can handle sudden dips in revenue because they have enough reserves and are willing to do so but who else could/would?
Losing YouTube would be a huge loss for humanity and that will be their argument.

Show me an Android phone with Google Play Store pre-installed that doesn't come with Chrome. They all have Chrome pre-installed alongside other Google bloatware. It's required.

skoda9635, 15 Jun 2023Cost of success? Well Google made those tools and well, ... morePC OEMs had the option no to include Windows with their machines, and users always have the option to install any browsers, but the EU still found that MS was guilty of anti-competitive from bundling IE with Windows. That's the cost of being the majority in marketshare. You are scrutinized and will be regulated if needed.

To get certified for GMS, Google forces OEMs to pre-install Chrome on their handsets. Considering the marketshare of Android, it's highly suspicious that the EU has not gone after Google for it.
