If we really want wireless charging, the best way is to have a solar cell at the back of the phone, and use a super bright led lamp to charge the phone. This is more convenience as I don't need a bulky charger. I can just lie it screen down in any well-lighted place for charger. And any led torchlight is now my portable power bank. We also don't need any specialized charger that can different between OEMs.

This is what I have been imagining right from wireless generation.. I know it would happen some days, when I will keep my phone close to pillow, at 2%. Up on waking up it has gone to 100%

All I was saying is that the technology always progresses to wireless. Once wireless provides good enough performance for the masses, mass adoption becomes the norm. There will be purposes for each.
But the elitist attitude here as if their lives are ruined by wireless.
Consumer tech will always go towards wireless, especially if the tech permits more convenience to consumers.

I never cease to be astounded by the number of people who defend manufacturers robbing us of possibilities. When there's no headphone jack, you gain nothing whatsoever. Phones didn't get thinner, or cheaper, or more waterproof. The only thing it does is strip you of the option to plug in your headphones.
I'd understand if wired headphones were obsolete. But they are clearly not and won't be obsolete like floppies and CDs. I've been hearing this for years, but they are not going anywhere. There are many reasons: no charging required, better audio quality, simpler connection, robustness, no security issues, and so on, which can't be solved completely in wireless headphones with current technology. So the only argument here is "I don't need it". But hell, you could be a hermit in a cave, who doesn't even need a toilet, but that doesn't mean it's useless.

potato4k, 20 Jun 2023Since you love wires so much, stop using your smartphone an... moreI gotta say, there is a place and time for wires. And in short, mundane tasks can be done wirelessly. However, when the situation calls for no compromises in performance, wires win over wireless. Gamers use Ethernet. TV streaming protocols aren't standardized, which means the most reliable connection will still be a wired HDMI connection. While wireless audio isn't bad, you gotta revert to wires if you want ultimate high-fidelity audio. It's all glory to convenience, not performance.
Look, if you're okay with the worse performance of wireless, then the future is bright for you But the legacy and performance gains of wires will never go away, simple as that.

In fact, S5 could be immersed in water. Believe me, I've used these devices in real life.

How can this article be totally SILENT on EU? The Same EU that's mandating that your removable battery slot should come back.
" you already bought a phone without a headphone jack, will you buy one with no wired port at all? "
Woah, my God, slow down GSMArena. That's a big assumption, you're making there. My phone has 3.5mm jack, it is a LG G8x, a 2019 launched phone. I use Desktop mode in my LG phone too, and rarely, I use the dual screen too.
I'm sorry but this is a leading article.. As is typical of GSMArena, only 1 out of 4 options is a positive one:- "Wired charging is never going away", and this option too is silent on 3.5mm jack and other ports.
