TheLastOracle, 20 Jun 2023Hahaha. Considering Europe doesn't really have it'... moreNobody's banning anyone, BBK refused to pay royalties. And since they know that they can't win at the court against Nokia, they decided to leave.
They were irrelevant in the EU anyway.

Anonymous, 20 Jun 2023I wonder how if Xiaomi is not popular in developed nations.... moreWhy is it always a problem with cant afford ?
There are not a lot of people out there who can afford to buy 1000 euro phones too.
And on that i mean that you pay that 1000 euro out in first day and dont spread it out for 12 to 24 months or even 36 months to finally own the phone and dont need to pay anymore for it.

Most people lease there phones cause they cant afford to buy it out cause they also have other things to lease like car, house, apartment and so on things you cant afford to buy out as you dont have the money. House or apartment takes like 40 years to lease

So i dont see why would it be a problem for people to lease 250-350 euro phones to take a contract for 12-24 months for 20 euro or something a month. As there are also not a lot of people who can afford to buy out these low cost phones. Some even lease 150 euro phones or 100 euro phones for like 5-10 a month contracts for period of 12 to 24 months.

It's just soo annoying to see people complain something like afford when cant think much further then there own nose. All my friends who buy flagships phones cant actually afford the 800 euro to buy out on day 1 and need to lease it for 12 to 24 months

Rodolf, 20 Jun 2023Germans eventually will only have a duopoly choice between ... moreMany brands sell there. Buying these two is simply choice, not necessity.

Realme - We're leaving the German market
            Germans - Who..?

sad of course, but Realme can still live without this country.. luckily the world is not only German alone that makes BBK come out but there are hundreds of others.

[deleted post]They absolutely aren't and neither is HMD Global, they are both finnish.

Does HMD rebrand chinese phones? Yes, but they aren't a chinese company.

Either way the phone maker Nokia, which is currently HMD, has nothing to do with these bans and restrictions.

Rodolf, 20 Jun 2023Germans eventually will only have a duopoly choice between ... moreThe government didn't ban them courts decided they infringed on Nokia's patents so there is nothing you can really do.. This is btw a europe wide move not just in germany. all other BBK brands said they'll stay in europe right before they left the continent.
But back to duopoly sucks to be honest. Europe had a much healthier smartphone market than the US but it's slowly becoming just like it 😕

If it's not Apple or Samsung, MOST people in Europe will not want it.
                    Let alone pay for it.
Too much drama for no reason.
Anyway .. I'm more hyped about EU soon forcing brands to bring back removable batteries. Yassss! 🎆

Germans eventually will only have a duopoly choice between Apple or Samsung in smartphone industry which is not good for that country.

NEVER restrict competition even if they're coming from foreign countries, or be ready to pay BIG $$$ to monopolistic companies.

Germany, UK, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Northern Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea. (North America not included because they are not sold there).

Irrelevant in all them. No place among rich nations, xiaomi is important.
