Spotify will add lossless streaming soon, but it might cost extra

20 June 2023
Spotify's Premium plan is $10 right now, but the upcoming "HiFi" tier will be priced higher, according to a report by Bloomberg.

For $20, I'd expect them to have spatial audio, sony 360 audio and instrumental audio for karaoke. It's the least they could do.

Uncompressed audio does use a lot more data and storage than MP3, so it should be no surprise about the price hike.

They've got Bob Hope and no hope of selling that to me, especially at those prices.

After listening to the highest quality lossless on Apple Music about a month ago, I just can`t go back to compressed songs on YT. The difference is staggering. Also it only costs $6/month in my country

But I also use high resolution 20 bit 96 khtz and regular 44.1khtz at 16 bit flac lossless on my Tesla model Y using USB hub and flash drive

People actually use Spotify? I've tried it few times and it's so clumsy tool to handle I just can't be bothered. And I'm suppose to PAY for this thing? Or use even more clumsy free one with annoying audio ads? No thanks. I don't get it.

20$ for lossless? When the competition is pretty much half of that?

LoL 😂 Apple Music let you listen to lossless with no extra charges or cost. How do I know? Coz, I'm using Apple Music on both my iPhone and Android phone and one single account/user 🤭🤭

Maybe it will be fake lossless... Most songs are converted at 320kbps and i think it will be re-encoding from MP3 320kbps (source) to lossless which is useless....

Finally, I used Tydal since when I wanted HiFi sound

XManager is good enough for me tbh, and if it doesn't get the "lossless streaming" feature then it's no big deal. I just hope it keeps working forever!!
