You guys can only Praise a brand because u feel infinix is not for you. Then you come out to write things that aren’t True. I use Note 30 VIP and it don’t take the time to get fully charge. The Charging is Super Fast and long lasting Ba3

DarlingYext, 26 Jun 2023"..leaving the smartphone overcharging overnight once ... moreThere is good article "How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries" on batteryuniversity portal with graphs and tables.
It is good to not discharge battery below 20% and do not charge over 80%. It can significantly decrease capacity loss after hundreds/thousands of charging cycles.
In your case you can shorten the charge time this way below 10 or even 8 min. because you will avoid the last 10% slow charge part(90%-100%) and you will skip the first 0-20%.

On my zen8 I stopped using the 30W charging immediately, because the Li-po battery was definitely not designed for that, back cover quite hot.
Today I checked 18W mode, and the result was better, back cover was maybe 50°C and the SoC increases the temp from idle 33°C to 40°C...it is connected with battery using copper plate, so the SoC is heated with battery during charging...that's the proof the battery temp was higher(~55-60°C) than what I felt on back cover with hands.
But for maximum battery life I am still using just 10W mode(temps are almost like human body) because my plans are keep the phone 4-5 yeras and I still want to be able record as maximum as possible length of video even ater this period.

JeuruW, 26 Jun 2023Based on my real true to life story about all of my smartph... more"..leaving the smartphone overcharging overnight once the battery hits 100% will decrease & degrade the maximum battery capacity at a more faster rate."

That's exactly why faster charging is better, having a phone that charges from 0-100% in about or less than 30 minutes is a must at this point, anyone can wait that much and just plug it in before taking a bath or something and unplug it before going to sleep.

DarlingYext, 25 Jun 2023Fast. Charging. Doesn't. Damage. The. Battery. When... moreBased on my real true to life story about all of my smartphones & tablets, i had used in the past and, of course, what i have been using right now in the present, is that, leaving the smartphone overcharging overnight once the battery hits 100% will decrease & degrade the maximum battery capacity at a more faster rate. Yes, you can charge with a 68W & 120W fast charging charger and you can leave it overnight until the next morning, you wake up, the battery capacity could still be at its maximum capacity. The reason for this is that these 68W & 120W chargers are not always charging your phone at 68W & 120W all the time. You can check the charger's specs on the charger itself, where you can see the minimum & maximum Voltage/Ampere. They are actually called "adaptive" fast chargers because these chargers can lower its Watts or V/A input once the battery is near reaching 100% full charge capacity. Still, i always don't overcharge my devices beyond 100% by using a battery charging alarm app to manually stop the charging but by the new feature called "bypass charging" maybe you could actually leave your phone charging overnight without the battery degrading faster because of overcharging. I just hope "bypass charging" is more common now in smartphones because this will eliminate the worry about your smartphone battery degrading overtime.

Check if your battery charges past 4.2v or not. Some phones to 4.4v and that's when damage is done.

My 6 year old Honor Note 8 gets pretty hot when it charges to 18w but I use an app to cap it at 4.2v. I have over 90% of original battery health after 6 years.

I Just Read , 25 Jun 2023I think you are wrong. It appears you have taken your own &... moreThe reason I have tagged myself I don't debate with people who are lack the capacity to grasp the simplest notion.
Not only have they taken over this article, the nonsense they are spouting defies the laws of physics.

I personally don't know or don't care we what phone you have or the charger it came with, the rated wattage is stated on it.

Hard to believe but no doubt they will have a contrary view batteries can only be charged a finite number of times
Phone A lasting longer than phone B could be down to a number of variables, do I care about your experience no.

I was precise in post 5 Watt charger 5 Volts at 1 amp, do I care that you now have an experience which you can't explain no.
Fast charging is essentially for people who don't want long downtime, now with sealed in battery carrying a spare is no longer an option

Do I know how long it takes to go from zero to 100% ? No but I can Google it.
Do I know that I get different times to get to 100% yes, based PD and Type C this has shortest estimated time
                      to fully charge.

Depending on a lower rate charge and cable these were longer
You're free to believe whatever, when those unsupported comments are posted as if PROVEN FACTS about expect to be called out on them.

I don't know if you realise your statements parrot those of # 45 and how he deal with facts.

Take it time to read what you post, generally I find that people who make the issue about themselves are the least qualified to comment because they can't

Impart knowledge if you can, if not read if you can.

BTW every single phone I ever bought, I consulted Gsmarena, in the main the post were not as banal.

Bzuco, 25 Jun 2023"they don't even have time to heat up"...it ... more" 'they don't even have time to heat up'...it is not about the time."

My point was to simply put they do not get hot, whatever the reason may be, they just don't. However all of my phones with less than 20W charging do get extremely hot. I only charge my phones with their own original charging brick. Except for my Axon 7, but that doesn't matter, at this point it has too many issues regardless of battery.

Anyways, thanks for the informative comments on batteries!

DarlingYext, 25 Jun 2023Well, I have plenty of phones that charge faster than 50W a... more"they don't even have time to heat up"...it is not about the time. It is about the battery maximum allowed/safe charge rate, and in case Infinix Zero Ultra, the used Li-po battery is marked as 8C which means it can be charged at 8x4500mA = 36A.Teoretically if 5V is used, it is the advertised 180W(36A * 5V = 180W). They are using 2 cells, so it is 90W for each cell.
If you would be charging at 240+W, you will notice the overheating.

These kind of high C(charge/discharge) rate batteries are used e.g. in RC models.

EDIT: It is questionable how many charge cycles these High C rate batteries will last.

I'm using Xiaomi 100w Wireless charging and Xiaomi 13 Pro (Capped at 50w), it's definitely faster than Infinix. It takes about 40 minutes to charge.

                                  Aand.. why wouldn't I?

So the original 120W charger that came with my iQOO 5 Pro didn't ever heat up my phone. Should I have made the conclusion that it actually should heat up my phone, so my device is faulty somehow? Or what?

All of my phones that were brand new and I charged them slowly with their original adapters, now have battery issues and significantly worse battery life compared to day one. For example my Galaxy S8 and my iPhone SE (2020), the S8 I have only used for a year, and the SE for less than a year. The SE(2020) that I got, was one of those very early models that still came with a 5W charger in the box, and that's what I've used. Less than a year in, battery health was 84%.

"USB/ micro USB charger are typically 5 watts, Watts equal Volts multiplied by Amps"

Yeah, not really. I have multiple phones that can fast charge through micro usb. For example, my Blackberry Priv which has 18W and my Motorola X Style, which has 15W of fast charging capability.

Heat is the no.1 enemy for battery that's a fact and fast charging definitely generate more heat. Also fun fact even with lower watt charging will degrade overtime so there's no escape to it, you will need to replace the battery when it's needed.
Also keep in mind these fast charging has many ways to play it around so it won't generate too much heat for the batter like multicell battery, instead pump 100 watt to a single cell they divide it in two so each cell receive 50 watt each = less heat.
Also theres Gallium Nitrates Charger which can generate more heat to the charging btick but nit the phone.
Vapor chamber that can spread the heat quick and even so it will dissipate quickly ( possible liquid cooling since oneplus proto show it is possible).
