Anonymous, 22 Jun 2023Because it isn't.
The S23 128GB launched in France ... moreBut it is. Also launch price is irrelevant. The current price is what matters. Especially with Samsungs long update support.
E.g. S23 256 is currently ~720€, S23+ 840€ in Germany. You have to be really a fan to justify Nothing 2 over that.

Oh no... If that's the case, then it's really expensive... I thought it was going to be at least 630 USD for the base model. 🥺

Anonymous, 21 Jun 2023450 is what xiaomi asks for redmi note in Europe. Oh nice, you took European prices as the global reference when Eurozone is not even Xiaomi main market *eyeroll*
Poco F5 is available for much lower than 450 euro in Asian countries. For example, in Malaysia and Indonesia the Poco F5 8/256 launch price is 345 euro and routinely available at 300 euro during monthly flash sales.

Like buying a one and half year-old phone at about flagship price.
Still not to mention a significant on both performance and efficiency gap of SD gen1 and 2.

Carl Pei has been doing this since OnePlus days. He leaks an exorbitant pricing and then when the phone launches it priced a lower than the leaked one buy higher than the previous one. He does so that the people won't freak out on pricing at launch

Anonymous, 22 Jun 2023I agree, the price seems ridiculous. Why not just buy a pho... moreSince we don't know what all the specs are, it's hard to make a decision based on SoC and price alone. Your speculation is leading you to make poor decisions.

Strategy is same like OnePlus.
Start as flagship killer price point and slowly increase the price.
For OnePlus he did it gradually. But for Nothing he has become over confident and has jumped to higher tag in it's second iteration itself ( and still it's not on the latest SoC).
Last time he tasted sucess as Oneplus starting from Indian market and slowly established itself as one of the premium brand.
Of course we are yet to know the price tag for India but still it will be higher than the first one.
But understanding Indian market is not easy. He thinks this price will immediately take them to premium league. But quite possible he may fail miserably.

Anonymous, 21 Jun 2023They don’t need to release a lower priced model. It‘s alrea... moreI couldn’t agree more. There are way too many low-end and mid-range Chinese phones out there. Most of them are just e-waste crap.

Notomoto, 21 Jun 2023That price is hilarious. It's almost like they don... moreI agree, the price seems ridiculous. Why not just buy a phone from one of the other major brands. I've seen the OP11 going for $500 directly from Best Buy already.
