If they gonna use 2mp for the sake of look we got lots of camera on the phone, definitely garbage.

Mi Note 10 had both.
UW autofocusing lens kept shooting pictures far way superior than the dedicated 2MP macro module. 10 times the resolution, amazingly short focusing distance. Just a higher risk of distortion and you needed to get closer to the subject.
To me dedicated modules should be the way to go (but at least 8MP), otherwise a very capable UW could do.

Anonymous, 25 Jun 2023For me just 1 camera lens. Ultra wide lens with Auto Focus ... moreonly if they put 1.5 inch sensor, which it can fit into the bump size of xiaomi 12s ultra.. then they can forget more lens than one

For me just 1 camera lens. Ultra wide lens with Auto Focus is more than enough for me. Don't need 2 or 3 stupid lenses that waste space inside and also can reduce the phone price. 1 lens is more than enough. Look at DSLR cameras or any point and shoot camera (compact camera) or even dedicated camera for movie production. Did you people see 2 or 3 lenses on those cameras?? Nope, just 1 lens 🙄

Useless and anyone who think that those 2MP cameras are good just because they are set to macro... Go make close picture using your main camera and.... just zoom... and crop... you will still get better image than those badly calibrated 2mp that where slapped on phone just to make camera numbers bigger(uhuh, we have 4-6 cameras!)

They are definitely more useful than those 2MP/5MP macro cams with fixed focus, which are useless.

I honestly can live with only two main lenses (wide + ultrawide/periscope/telephoto). but it's nice to have one camera that does two jobs.
Unfortunatelly, brands are now reserving ultrawide camera for their premium midrage phones and making a standard set for all basic and affordable midrange phones with two or three cameras (main camera + one or two auxiliary sensors - depth, macro and/or AI).
I don't do macro shots because I have no use for them and I rarely use ultrawide camera either. On the other hand, periscope and telephoto cameras are the ones I use the most apart from the main camera and they are nice to have.

You buy a real camera and stop fooling around! The cameras in the phones are for a casual photo or video at the party, at dinner, on vacation, the beach and nothing else! If you want results like a professional photographer without being one, you buy a 5 thousand dollar camera and that's it... Telephones are just for being connected.
Do you want so much resolution and perfection in a photo for what? By the time they upload it to the networks, will it reduce the image quality? hahahahaha what nonsense...

Yes! This is the thing I've been talking about for a long time. I think more phones should have AF/PDAF on their UW modules since it makes them a lot more versatile. Actually, even though it sounds crazy, for me it'd be enough if a phone had a 5x periscope telephoto and an ultrawide with AF, which never happens. What we normally see usually looks somewhat like this: wide + OIS, telephoto/periscope telephoto 2x/3x/5x zoom + OIS, ultrawide or wide + OIS and ultrawide. In other phones you can also see some B/W, depth, TOF 3D/Lidar, macro sensors, but this is a lot more rare.
So yeah, overall it's a really cool feature which is pretty cost-efficient and I'm sure a lot of phones will implement it in the future.

16 mm ultra wide
35 mm main
85 mm telephoto
These focal length should be standard in all smartphones with aperture near f/1.2 if possible.
