To have some ads on YT = income for YT
No ads for users = YT premium = income for YT

Does it make sense? NO. Do not support these practices.

There are plenty of big companies who are supporting plenty of products/services which are then free for us. We already paid for that when we bought these products/services.

Youtube is responsible for their public webpage's content which is transmitted to us without any previous agreement about "we are obliged to watch advertisements".

We are free to do whatever we want with the data stored on our personal computers/devices.
We are also free to filter any incoming traffic.

We all already paid for all the ads in the world, we can do what we want with those ads content on our side.

They have been doing it for over 15 years now and the thing is moving data around has only gotten cheaper with time! It's literally cheaper for them to operate than it was for them on 2006 and the AdBlock bandwagon was already chugging along by then. they never had issues.
I highly doubt that only ***Suddenly*** they are having issues

I wonder if this is a deliberate attempt from Google to stop ReVanced from continue operating. I know a lot of people who aren't going to pay for Premium plan.

This is the reason i buy phones equipped with FM radio.
When monopoly arises - monopoly fails.
I never paid any membership to watch youtube and will never do cause i know and i saw multiple advertisement while watching youtube.
If they have the ability to earn from advertisement then i'm not going to pay.
All the best to youtube, do whatever you can do.

Also i wonder how impactful a big protest from creators could be, seeing how effective it is on Reddit, but i don't think tought if this would be the topic that triggers it.

Lol. Youtube will have to take my adblocker from my cold, dead hands before I disable my adblocker.

Why should I pay for YT premium when they make so much $$$$$ selling my personal data to advertisers? If anything, they should be paying us for selling our personal data.

I wouldn't mind seeing ads if they were at all reasonable with their application of them, as it is they practically spam videos with ads even when the uploader doesn't want it. Having to sit through 2 or more ads every 2 minutes is not reasonable it's them being greedy because they have a substantial market share and history in the business, meaning people are unwilling to switch platforms out of pure habit. You get less amount of advertisement on regular TV but at least their platform show high budget movies and the like.

YT has become a "product placement" platform, you can`t watch a decent video any more without vloggers shoving sponsored 5h!t in your face, and everyone is trying very hard to turn this into a full-time job. I have nothing against that, but knowing how Homo sapiens behave when they get greedy, the quality of the content is more and more lacklustre and rushed.

As for the ads....I`m pretty sure they can`t do anything about it, at the very least, they will take care of a big chunk of users who will raise the white flag against this "three-strike" trial, but for the rest of us techy users, who are willing to spend an extra 10 min searching a powerful ad blocker, we will be fine.
