The thing I hate about Android phones having an abundance of RAM isn't the amount itself but the atrocious management. What's the point when you still have to restart apps? Why can't it be like it's desktop counterparts? Give us more flexibility.

It used to be better back then, maybe before Android Pie and 8 GB RAM was a thing. Now companies are doing this as some sort of marketing strategy, even adding the so called virtual RAM that isn't beneficial at all. Seriously, 6+2? Might as well just add to 12. I cannot speak much about desktop UX on a phone as I have no experience.

CasualPerson, 05 Jul 2023Not gonna be that guy, but isn't 24GB RAM... Overkill?... moreNot really, the Yuzu devs ported their Switch emulator to Android recently, and they said to play Tears of the Kingdom you need at least 12GB of RAM, that's half the RAM this phone has already, pair that with other multitasking you can do (since USB Type-C has video output) and you have a desktop in your hands that can browse the web, emulate, virtualize, and so on all at the same time.

The real question I have that wasn't covered in the article is if this selfie camera will be using the newer Nubia Z50 Ultra technology equivalent (which was superior to the Red Magic 8 Pro), meaning its more hidden to the eye.

Edited for clarity sake: seems the 8S Pro+ does have 165w charging but still keeps the 5000mAh battery, although some outlets are reporting the 8S Pro has a 5000mAh cell with 80w charging and the Pro+ goes to 6000mAh and 165w. Official promo material is also confusing. Guess we need to wait for the official JD.com listing...

Not bad prices for it but disappointing that it has 128GB storage version as bottom of the line. Should start with like 8/256 and then be like 16/512 and 24GB ram and 1TB

Now to compare this with Zenfone 10 based on price alone even tough this Red Magic is a large phone with 0.9 inch larger screen and it has under display selfie camera and all around better specs with less on price.

If this manages to get a Windows 11 port, the 24 GB RAM has a LOT of sense then since it might be used for GPU and also the power of the SD 8 Gen 2 now is enough to run some PC games with less issues.

not like PC, where there is system/cpu RAM and there also GPU have its own RAM

as this is gaming phones, more newer games are expected to have higher ram usage for high-preset, yes 24gb might seems overkill for now, but as its unified/shared and if it can reduce/faster load time also less write to storage nand, why not
