No Snapdragon this time around.

[deleted post]I think this can happen to any phone/laptop/etc, especially if it's always plugged in.
Knock on wood, my exynos S21 has been ok for the past 2+ years.

Most people (more than 90%) have no clue what it the difference between iOS and Android. What makes you think they know about Exynos vs Snapdragon?
The phone will sell, especially if it's in the 500-600 euro price tag.
Only tech geeks will avoid it.

Looks like s23 sales will increase with this decision.

Aoi Akane, 07 Jul 2023You can't even see a difference in performance if all ... moreNeither can you, since all you do is reading numbers.

I think this whole Fan Edition branding is a pointless exercise.
Fan Edition started with Note 7 in 2016 or so, when the original S7 exploded due to tight battery tolerance spaces, its remaining unsold units were renamed "S7 Fan Edition" with a lower capacity battery.
Later on, in S10 series, Fan Edition meant slightly inferior hardware, bigger screen and higher weight compared to original S10 series. Who were they even aiming this contraption at?

S20 FE is still going strong mainly because its a Snapdragon 865 flagship for cheap, rare for Samsung, but also because it has memory card slot, an often missed feature.
S21 in my country, is just an Exynos phone for $100 cheaper than the non-FE S series, no point.
If they still wanna make it, I strongly suggest them to keep microSD slot and 3.5mm jack and such useful features, so that it truly becomes a grandiose ""Fan Edition"".

The "known" problem will start to appear if you start playing heavy games or doing some multitasking for a long time. There those chipsets will perform worse and will heat up quickly, even compared to older chipsets like Snapdragon 870, 865 or 855.

Of course, if you compare poor SD 6XX to new and more powerful Exynos, compare not only heat, but also the performance... that's what people typically don't see.

Exynos is a horrible mess for Thermal management. Just upgraded my Dad's phone. The older one was having SD 6xx series, new one has Exynos 13 series and now his is complaining about heating during charging, video recording and even watching youtube. If this is the condition of a low end set, then I can just imagine how hot the flagships will run.

S, 07 Jul 2023I'm using exynos without problem like other people men... moreI'm not a tech enthusiast and the reason for me why I don't want an Exymos SOC is simply because my mate's Galaxy S21 is over-heating when using such a basic thing like sharing a hotspot. Getting warm would be acceptable but hot, no. I will also not buy the Snapdragon SOCs with that problem.

Since SD888 is well known for overheating issues Exynos 2200 even much slower would be a lot better option i think. But they should use SD870 or SD 8 gen 1 or so. Plenty of good options to pick from SD 7 gen 2 should also be good in this case if they not willing to add SD 8 gen 2.
