I don't understand people here. Sure Meta is eager to take your data, but don't other companies do too, even Twitter? Or Google? Or Apple?

Vasra, 07 Jul 2023Reads / shares / sells all your personal information, incl.... moreMeta was fined 1.2 billion euros ($1.3 billion) by the Irish Data Protection Commission for breaching the EU's data privacy rules, the General Data Protection Regulation. GDPR
So I live in the UK, put simply when you collect Data from EU citizens you can only do what you agree to even if you transfer it to the USA, which Meta did not
The UK has left the EU Brexit. and a much weaker business friendly is going to replace it.
Hence the launch in the UK, not Ireland or the EU
I haven't signed up nor will I as you literally give Meta unfettered Data access that essentially means information gained used for targeted advertising.
The fact that this will takes years to resolve In Ireland
and EU if ever shows the serious the situation is
Meta & MZ know about GPDR and could have taken steps to not fall foul of it. That it hasn't speakls volumes..

Get Thread (any meta app actually) aka give money to meta with all of your data they sell to advertisers !
Enjoy losing your privacy, again.

Threads is utter crap. Heavy reckless moderation (they're outright banning accounts who say things they dislike). They're scraping too much data from it's users, and asking every permission in the book (as below users have pointed out). They linked it to IG so people wouldn't delete Threads, but are reversing the decision after heavy backlash.
Honestly, even if you dislike Twitter for any reason, Threads should be the last alternative you should switch to. It's that bad.

How does it matter if they allow deleting accounts when there's no word on //selling your data//.?? What good will deleting the account do when the data has already been scraped and sold/ kept ready for selling???

Reads / shares / sells all your personal information, incl. financial, health, post, purchases, friends, browsing history, identifiers and "sensitive info".
And on top of it all, it censors worse than FB.
Why on earth would anybody use that?
