If you see a smartphone with an under display camera next to one that has a hole in the display you wonder why not more Smartphone use that technology. Answer: a hole in the display is more cost efficient.
Regarding bigger smartphones: there are certain markets which have demand for Phablets (Asia). Those markets like India have high sale numbers. For manufacturers is like Xiaomi it's more attractive to concentrate on that markets. So they manufacture big smartphones and consumers in smaller sales markets have to adopt.
Just like German car manufacturers have changed their design language (more rounded shapes) in the past 10 years to make their cares more attractive for Chinese customers (biggest sales market for VW).
If the global demand for big smartphones would be that high why would the Samsung release high end compact phones Like a S23? Why is the Apple A14 and 14 pro still compact? If "people" want bigger smartphones why was the Apple 13 with its compact size the best selling Smartphone globally?

You think manufacturer will stop using the design if demand is high? The same reason why phones are getting bigger.

They're not a phone designer; you aren't a phone designer; we're not a phone designer. But we can still give insights into whether a certain feature is bad; or good.
An analogy would be a customer who can't cook judging the food cooked by the chef, and if they say it's bad, they would state why it's not good but not how can; it be improved. Food reviewers do this a lot; does that mean that their opinions don't matter just because they don't provide solutions on how the food can be improved?

I dont think having the phone colored pink is a design element or some that have some pattern in different colors in the back is also a design thing. It's just a paint job that you can do on your own and have the phone wrapped in it or just paint it on your own using templates.
Difference is only in hardware and cameras sensors.
It use to be phones with cameras that now is cameras with a phone cause camera is the largest part of the phone when it needs to be larger that dont fit in the frame of the phone to have large lump out of the body that now is also with island around the cameras.

Under-display cameras make the selfie cam quality poor, we'll need to wait for technological advancements in order for all brands to apply the under-display camera onto their phones.
Also, prices increase because there are other features (which you overlook) that cause the price to be higher.

Smartphones have matured a lot, there isn't much that they can do while still keeping it functional, at least not yet
There are thousands of patens submitted by almost every company, so you just have to wait until they come up with a good enough idea that they can actually pull off

If you are looking at the notch then you aren't looking at what's on the screen and guess what? Whenever someone uses their phone they are looking at the screen.

More pleasant to use. Being large taller display but skinny in width is useless for me..
