Leak: the Google Pixel 8 will be more expensive than its predecessor

I just read from 9to5Google that Pixels have their biggest market growth coming from Japan. And comments are confirming it. Same with Russia. Google markets Pixels in Japan everywhere but then doesn't do it in Samsung’s home country in South Korea.
The best Pixels to buy are really their A-series. They're the cheapest and usually the smallest. The Pixel 8 is slightly shorter than the 7a but I expect the 8a to be shorter than the 8 by next year. You need to wait about 7 more months after October to get the cheapest new Pixel possible.
I could get the Pixel 6a for $100 without trade-in at Metro PCS but I don't want that first gen Tensor and it lacks wireless charging. But battery life is way better on the 6a than the 7a. Tensor G2 is more inefficient. I personally don't need another phone in my life.
My favorite Pixel a is still the 4a. That remains the smallest Pixel a phone and still had a headphone jack the Pixel 5 lacked but it didn't have wireless charging, 5G, and only had Snap 730G. The Pixel 5 was the last Pixel "flagship" to feature a Snapdragon SoC even if 765G isn't really flagship.
3a: 151.3 x 70.1 x 8.2 mm, 147g
4a: 144 x 69.4 x 8.2 mm, 143g
5a: 156.2 x 73.2 x 8.8 mm, 183g
6a: 152.2 x 71.8 x 8.9 mm, 178g
7a: 152 x 72.9 x 9 mm, 193.5g
The Pixel 4a and Pixel 5 (144.7 x 70.4 x 8 mm, 151g) were really the last Pixels with a decent size for one-handed use.

xslvrxslwt, 10 Jul 2023Paying that much for an Exynos device (mediocre bb, perform... moreSurely you say it because you see it on some youtuber,,, hahaha I can speak because I have the 7 pro, I agree with the soc for the rest, this phone instead of lowering its efficiency is better going to increase it, It is not the best in performance, but it is very efficient

Google - No one's buying our phones, we're not even in top 10 for global sales
Also Google - Let's increase the price of our phones that no one's buying
Tony Stark - Not a great plan

Paying that much for an Exynos device (mediocre bb, performance, stability) with Android 13/14's ugly af UI/UX (specifically qs, monet colors in dark mode) is inexcusable.
EDIT: Just as Daemon said, before Tensor G5 - a big pass at this price.

You only need to wait a few months for prices to plummet on Pixels. On OfferUp, I see Pixel 6 sell commonly for $200 and they're usually in mint condition. Nobody in the United States really wants Pixels.
For myself, I'm waiting for Pixels to get TSMC. That's going to take another 2 to 3 years with the Pixel 11 and Pixel Fold 4. The Tensor G3 and G4 are still stuck with Samsung foundries. Just more inefficient battery life and heating.

Well the Pixel 7 Pro si from 757 up to 1150.

Pixel fold is 2200 in Slovakia. Google is funny company.
After seing results at JRE Labsa wonder who wil pay 2200 for a toy made of soap bubbles with equal durability.

Anton., 10 Jul 2023For example, I, who have the 7 pro, that optical reader, by... moreThat too. I don't have a problem with the flash light normally, but in the dark it quickly becomes a problem. I'm glad that Google's going ultrasonic starting with the Pixel 8 series. The one thing I'm waiting for these phones to do in the future though is an ultrasonic fullscreen in-display fingerprint sensor, as in one that works across the entire screen. Samsung even showed one off at CES, but it seems like such stuff is just too slow in adoption. It would make the whole thing more accurate, not to mention more comfortable to use. It would especially be boon for foldables, as it apparently doesn't use anywhere nearly as much space as regular under-display ones.

speaking of biometrics, why didn't biometric face recognition ala Apple's Face ID take off on Android? a couple of companies, including Google, tried it in around 2018/2019, but now it's only Honor's Magic series that still does it

It's good to see Google finally switching to an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. I know it's controversial that I've never had any problems with my Pixel 7 Pro's optical fingerprint sensor, but nonetheless an increase in speed and accuracy for the fingerprint sensor is always a good thing, and it will hopefully help those who have problems with it.

In Singapore, the price is $999.
It's going to pass the $1000 mark. Too bad.

I´d be shocked if there is something that isn´t more expensive in 2023
Now that would be breaking news.
