And for the price, this A78 has 256GB of storage, which many lay users might find more important than other spec.

    It depends on what you are looking for. For most people here, this might look like a bad deal. But for lay consumers going into their local retailers, this may not look like a bad phone. Also, Oppo's build quality tend to be better than Xiaomi. You can compare the dimensions and weight between this A78 and the Redmi note 10 Pro. On the hand, this A78 will feel much better (narrower, lighter, more eye catching). Sometimes those are the things that regular consumers are looking for, not pure spec on paper.

                There needs to be a law preventing these companies from including old processors and stop them from putting useless cameras on phones. If it isn’t uw, telephoto, just don’t add it
                And no macro and all of that nonsense
                Almost all the time the other cameras offer very low resolution and aren’t usable

                    I would argue that this is actually not that bad. For typical regular user, this is plenty of a phone. 8GB of RAM, 256GB UFS storage, stereo speaker, NFC, AMOLED screen, and the SD680 is at least fabbed by TSMC, so it would have decent battery life. 5000mAh battery and fairly light 180g, For a lay user, it’s plenty of a phone. A free TWS definitely sweetens the deal. If Oppo added at least IP53, it would’ve been a great phone for many.

                        It's really sad how this phone has so much potential. They should've replaced the useless 2 MP depth camera with a 12 MP ultrawide of some sort, and give it something like a Dimensity 7050 or better. 1080p@60fps is a must nowadays (I would say though that 60fps in at least some resolution should always have been a standard), and the 680 is a joke at this point. Also, give it 5G, it's basically a standard feature nowadays, even being used by Samsung on their £200 phone, the A14. If they did all of this, then this would be a very good product. Even better if the selfie camera was a 12 MP module.
