What a ruse. Europeans' data sold to Americans was stored in India.

And people typically sell their older phones or simply wipe their memory and throw it into collecting bins. Someone else deals with it.
Maybe you should think about benefits of non-removable battery. Easier and better water protection, thinner phones with large capacity, no squeaking and moving rear covers of thin plastic, better material.
Yes, I defend this. Because it's much better.

MP , 11 Jul 2023In short the EU allows American mass surveillance These companies were already allowed to collect data, they just had to store it in the EU - for the reason that US law only gives such privacy protections as it has to US citizens, none at all for non-US citizens whose data are stored there (one of the "benefits" of Brexit was that Google immediately moved UK users' data to the US, which says it all really).
So as an EU citizen you already had the mass surveillance by these companies, they just weren't allowed to bypass EU law in what else they did with it.

Rodolf, 11 Jul 2023Thank god I don't live in the EU. The first thing I... moreThat's not enough, you'd have to remove all Google services... Of course, they bring with them a certain level of comfort. Open source initiatives exist, such as GrapheneOS, but to date it can only be installed on Pixels. You can install the Proton ecosystem, which I think is pretty robust for a cloud, an email client, a synchronised calendar, a VPN and a password manager.

Anonymous, 11 Jul 2023Then what happens to those phones when they upgrade to a ne... moreMan most people usualy sell their old phone when it have a decent value and buy a new one. Working and owning a phone shop company we sell we buy new and used phones many people love to buy used ones cheaper or use the cash they get for old phone to buy new one cheaper its simple as this.
Who would keep their phone at home in closet loosing its value and not selling it or giving it to those who needs good phone in good condition cheaper???
This is what acerage user would do. What you said makes sense only and just to you.

Cpt.Power, 11 Jul 2023Again this shitty useless feature???
If you would keep for... moreThen what happens to those phones when they upgrade to a new one? Put into a closet where the battery might expand and destroy the phone instead of harmlessly popping the removable plastic back cover off, allowing you to remove the battery more easilly and salvage the phone while recycling the battery? Or just throwing the phone and battery away because it looks broken. What do you think the average user would do? Get laughed at when going to a repair center to fix an old phone that is probably out of service and has no parts, or the OEM repair center says "sucks, we don't have the parts anymore. Just buy a new one".
Yeah, most people would probably just throw it out. Or even if their device's battery health was good if you took care of it, fine. And then what? Doubt you would reply to this comment, and neither will "blue", but I'll bet that you will continue to push the companies agenda on as much people as you can. How much are they paying you? Probably can't say, but I don't think that having a replacable battery will be the end of the world, right? Worried that your sales may drop? Maybe adding a headphone jack and micro sd card slot will help those sales, right? Oh, but don't forget to bump the prices of the phones by $100 while it likely costs less to make the dang thing anyway (BoM analysis Galaxy S22 Ultra vs S20 Ultra?)
Maybe It's just all greed, right? Nahhhhh, surely the companies are thinking in the user's best interest 🥰

Thank god I don't live in the EU.
The first thing I do when I buy any smartphone is removing facebook (if it's present) through ADB.
Because Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, WhatsApp, Twitter, and now 'threads' etc.. are all spying apps in disguise.
Only open-sourced apps are truly secure.

Yuri84, 11 Jul 2023Cool story. Not that it would change anything, though. I... moreNot right. The problem lies in transferring the data from the phones to the US servers. The court ruling in 2017 that outlawed the Privacy Shield (which did nothing to protect European citizens) should have forced the GAFAMs to set up specific servers in Europe in order to continue offering their services to the citizens of these countries, which would have cost billions of euros, but as I said before, this was not the case. The new agreement is based on Biden's promise to supply oil and gas to Europeans who have decided to boycott oil and gas from Russia, so he was sure to get what he wanted, i.e. the status quo and the continued use of this data by the NSA and any other agency that felt like it. And so much for the privacy of Europeans. Those who want a modicum of control over their privacy should turn to systems that are free of Google, Apple - or Huawei - services.

I hope the privacy advocates win because there are numerous spying scandals related to the US with them even spying on allies. Trusting the US with user data is no different than trusting China.

Cool story. Not that it would change anything, though.
If the data was never saved on an EU server, you don't need to transfer data from EU server to US server. So just save the data directly to US server and you don't need to "transfer" anything, right?
