Reuters: Huawei to launch smartphone with 5G connectivity later this year

The new 5G chips will be fabbed on SMIC’s N+1 manufacturing process using Huawei's EDA software tools.

The US prevented TSMC from supplying Huawei so Huawei had to look for other ways to get 5G chips. They (probably) wanted to get them from Qualcomm, but they have (so far) been unable to.

    To the second question: It is reported that Huawei has the largest number of 5G-related patents. However, this does not mean they have a sufficient number of patents (that they can actually make use of) for a particular 5G solution. This means they may have to go to another company to negotiate a licensing agreement or purchase a part from them.

        This being said, GMS is not Samsung's biggest problems. They are going cheap on midrangers and driving costumers away. I prefer many Samsung products over competition, smartphones are definitely not among these.

          Dind't they own a lot of 5G patents and tehnologies? That's what they brag a lot about.

                                      FYI the the iPhone 13 Pro Max's 5G chip has slower network speeds when compared to the Mate 50 Pro's 4G chip.

                                      The only thing that the US can do is ban other country's tech because they can't build their own version.
